Planets, Signs, & Lovers

Planets in Signs

In astrology, the planets are the primary focus of study. While the signs are usually much easier to follow than planetary positions in the natal chart, it is absolutely vital to understand that the planets' positions mean EVERYTHING.

When it comes to relationships, it is a popular subject.  Everyone wants to know "Am I compatible with my "lover"? Who is the perfect person for me? And what planets should I really pay attention to?  When trying to determine direct compatibility, a more detailed chart is necessary such as a Synastry or Composite chart.

http://astro-charts.com/tools/new/synastry/

Synastry charts usually focus mostly on planetary aspects. Planetary aspects are more important when thinking about how compatible one person will be wih another.

So what about zodiac signs? Do they also show compatibility?  When a planet is positioned in a sign it typically represents the nature of that person in relation to the position.  Therefore, examining the signs is also helpful when considering our love life. Remember, each sign has a ruling planet, so also examine the ruling planet's position in the natal chart.

In this section, I will be focusing on explaining how each planet influences our love life, while emphasizing only planets that are the most important.  While all the planets have their own significance, some are more significant or more influential on a person's love life than others.

The Sun

Most people are more aware (and some people more comfortable) with determining compatibility by Sun sign. People may say "I'm a Sagittarius" or "I'm a Libra", and usually they are unaware that they are referring to their Sun sign position. The sun is the planet of self-identity and ego, so it is natural for us to identify with it or claim ourselves under the sun sign's rulership.  Of course, what must be understood is that the sun focuses more on the individual rather than it does our relationship with others. In the world of the sun, we are technically an island on to ourselves, where everyone around us is actually apart of OUR world rather than the other way around.  So is the sun one of the most important planets to consider when dating? YES. Because this luminary represents the center of our universe (our ego), it is important when thinking of certain partners we are interested in. The sun gives us life and happiness, so if we cannot find partners that allow us to have our pride (or if we can't find partners that we can be proud of), then we will be unhappy in life.  The sun represents that pride. When the sun is dignified by sign, the native with said position will have strong pride and will. This means that having a partner they can be proud of is very important. If the sun is debilitated by sign position this means the native is less concerned about individual pride and may be more concerned about the partner's individual characteristics.

I must also mention, that women tend to project the sun sign on the men in their lives more than men may project this energy on women. Men naturally tend to ASSUME the role of "leader" in a relationship and are more concerned about BEING someone their partner can be proud of rather than looking for partners to fulfill that need. Being confident in a relationship is very important for a man's position within the dating scene. He does, however, want a woman who respects this side of him..the part of his personality he is very proud of. Whereas women tend to expect men to be more confident, being the representer of everything she is proud of in life. While being confident working in the career world is important, this expectation sometimes does not apply to women in relationships.

What each native may want (especially women) in a partner by sun sign:

Sun in Aries: Decisiveness, initiation, leadership, independence, and courage will make him/her proud and content. Sun is exalted in Aries. The native likely has a very strong will.

Sun in Taurus: Financial stability, peace, steadiness, comfort, and pleasure will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Gemini: Flexibility, constant activity, communication, and interaction will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Cancer: Understanding, support, familiarity, and care will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Leo: Confidence, pride/dignity, loyalty, attention, and lavishness will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Virgo: Hard work, self-service, practicality, cleanliness, and reasonableness will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Libra: Consideration, fairness, harmony, peace, attractiveness, and sociability will make him/her proud and content. The sun is falling in Libra. The native may have a weaker will than others.

Sun in Scorpio: Depth, passion, excitement, privacy, and influence will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Sagittarius: Optimism, new experiences, lavishness, faith, and morality/ethics will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Capricorn: Dependability, maturity, reasonability, encouragement, and stablity will make him/her proud and content.

Sun in Aquarius: Thoughtfulness, objectivity, independence, open-mindedness, and acceptance will make him/her proud and content.  The sun is in detriment in Aquarius. The native is likely the least concerned with personal pride.

Sun in Pisces: Compassion, unconditional love, creativity, faith/spirituality, and self-sacrificing will make him/her proud and content.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's sun, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

The Moon

The moon is actually one of the most important planets to examine when thinking about long-term compatibility. The moon is the planet of our emotions; how we handle our emotions and what we need to feel emotionally secure. Within the realm of the moon is ALL of our insecurities and so when we are looking for partners, our commitment radar is guided by the moon. The moon is the relationship starter/finisher/ender because the moon is designed to protect us emotionally.  Therefore, the moon's position in a natal chart should be the most considered. When the moon is dignified, the primary concern becomes emotional stability and emotional understanding. When the moon is in debilitated, the primary concern is emotional protection and personal desires. Men tend to project their own moon qualities (emotional insecurities) more on women, expecting the women in their lives to be more emotionally sensitive and more caring/supportive than they are. The man in this case will be less supportive of their female counterparts emotionally and more self-absorbed. Whereas the woman tends to ACCEPT her own vulnerabilities and assume supportive and caring roles, while still hoping that the partner in her life will be equally as understanding as she is. The nature of what men need emotionally is somewhat different from the needs of women as a result of what they recognize.  Unlike the sun, the moon is not as conscious...rather it is sub-conscious.  This means that many of the habits from the moon come from a childhood rearing we are not even aware of sometimes. The man may seek partners that support him always; partners that do not upset him.  This is a result of a man that wants to protect his emotions or a man that does not want to let those feelings show. The woman will expect her partner to understand and reassure her feelings the way she "tries" to understand and reassure his feelings.  This is a result of the woman recognizing her own insecurities and accepting her weaknesses, as well as the weaknesses of her partner.

What each native may need from a partner (especially men) by moon sign:

Moon in Aries: Independence, action, excitement, encouragement, and daily challenge is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Taurus: Peace, stability, comfort, patience, loyalty, and pleasure is necessary for emotional commitment. Moon is exalted in Taurus, which means the native is more emotionally tolerant and sure.

Moon in Gemini: Activity, communication, flexibility, and light-heartedness is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Cancer: Understanding, sensitivity, support, care, compassion, and familiarity is necessary for emotional commitment.  The moon is in domicile in Cancer, which means the native will be highly concerned with emotional understanding and reassurance.

Moon in Leo: Admiration, independence, loyalty, and positivity is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Virgo: Routine/consistancy, practicality, reassurance, reasonability, and usefulness is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Libra: Peace, companionship, adoration, harmony, and reasonability is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Scorpio: Trust, devotion, depth, tolerance, privacy, and respect is necessary for emotional commitment. The moon is falling in Scorpio, which means the native is not as emotionally tolerant or as patient with the weaknesses of others.

Moon in Sagittarius: Positivity, tolerance, new experiences, independence, and faith is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Capricorn: Stability, dependability, respect, independence, and hard work is necessary for emotional commitment.  Moon is in detriment in Capricorn, which means this native is less concerned about emotional connection and reassurance.

Moon in Aquarius: Independence, friendship, adaptability, open-mindedness, thoughtfulness, and reasonability is necessary for emotional commitment.

Moon in Pisces: Imagination, sensitivity, acceptance, thoughtfulness, and easiness is necessary for emotional commitment.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's moon, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Mercury

Mercury is the planet of the mind & communication. I'm pretty sure that that should say enough about why this planet is important. But, in case you still do not understand why, I'll explain.  Communication is considered one of the keys to a successful relationship.  How we reason and how we speak to others will influence how compatible we are with another.  While Mercury is not as important as the Sun, Moon, Venus, and Mars....it does give indication as the type of relationship we hope to have.

Mercury is considered quite a neutral planet, which means people hardly ever classify this planet within feminine or masculine realms.  This planet represents the way our mind functions; how we recieve, process, and give of information.  Even if we have more emotional energies or more logical energies in our chart, the way our mind functions will determine how we translate those energies to others.  Mercury represents that functionality. When Mercury is in its dignified position, the native needs clear communication in order to function in life.  If Mercury is debilitated by position, the native is more imaginative and is less concerned with direct communication or technicalities.

What each native may need from a partner by Mercury sign:

Mercury in Aries: Decisiveness and simplicity makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Taurus: Patience and calmness makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Gemini: Constant communication and interaction makes communication and cooperation easier for them. Mercury is in domcile in Gemini, which means communication is very important to this native's life.

Mercury in Cancer: Sensitivity and intuition makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Leo: Attention and Flattery makes communication and cooperation easier for them.  Some astrologers consider Mercury to be falling in Leo.  This would mean that the native's mind is more creative than technical.

Mercury in Virgo: Logic and clarity makes communication and cooperation easier for them.  Traditionally, Mercury is considered in domicile AND exalted in Virgo.  This means the native find communication to be very important and the native has a highly technical mind.

Mercury in Libra: Fairness and tact makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Scorpio: Thoroughness and depth makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Sagittarius: Broadness and light humor makes communication and cooperation easier for them.  Mercury is considered in detriment in Sagittarius, which means the natives with this position are not as concerned with technical thinking.

Mercury in Capricorn: Reasonability and practicality makes communication and cooperation easier for them.

Mercury in Aquarius: Objectivity and open-mindedness makes communication and cooperation easier for them. Some astrologers consider Mercury to be exalted in Aquarius, which means the native has a highly tehnical mind.

Mercury in Pisces: Creativity and tolerance makes communication and cooperation easier for them.  Some astrologers consider Mercury to be in detriment and falling in the sign of Pisces.  This would mean the natives of this position have a more creative mind and are unconcerned with technicalities.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Mercury, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Venus

Venus is the planet of love, which means this is the MOST important planet to examine if a person is interested in dating, commiting, or marrying.  Venus is the planet that represents how we show our appreciation of things and people.  Without Venus, we may find it hard to feel pleasure in any relationship. This planet is all about pleasure.  Venus also represents our love standards. Venus even represents our flirting style. When we show the qualities of Venus, we are showing that we really "love" or are at least infatuated with someone.  Venus also represents beauty and our appreciation for it.  Men have a tendency to project the qualities of Venus on the women they like.  This is because men mostly appreciate beauty in the form of a woman rather than in themselves. Venus actually represents the way we accentuate our bodies, which men tend to appreciate more in a woman than her natural body type.  Women are less likely to project these energies on men, and instead they assume the role of the beautiful "diamond".  In fact, women often identify their Venus qualities as a part of who they are; their alter-ego.  Thus, this changes the nature of what men expect from Venusian energies VS what women expect from Venusian energies.  Men want a partner that is attractive and loving, hence why they project their own Venusian energies.  Women desire affection and/or adoration, therefore they expect to be treated in accordance with their Venusian standard of love. When Venus is dignified, the native will be more considerate and polite. If Venus is debilitated, the native will be less considerate and less mannerable.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Venus, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Mars

Mars is also a very important planet to consider when we are interested in starting relationsips or having a long lasting relationship. How? Because Mars is the planet of action, energy, and sexuality.  In truth, Venus is technically the planet that represents a woman's sex drive because women are more driven sexually by affection and adoration.  Even the man must find a woman that passes his standard of beauty through Venus in order to feel lust towards the partner.  And when the standard of Venus is activated, Mars steps in to take action on what we desire.  This is why Mars represents our sexuality. It is the planet that represents how we perform sexually and our sexual energy.

Another part of Mars that is very important to understand is that the planet represents our temperament and how we act upon our anger.  Obviously, this is very important to consider when trying to date someone.  Arguments and violence can come from incompatible Mars energy.  It is always best that we recognize what irritates our partners so that we won't get on their bad side as often.

Women have a tendency to project Mars on the men they are interested in.  It's not that women do not have the qualities of Mars, rather when it comes to relationships, women do not openly embrace their need for sexual gratification.  This comes from social shaming of female sexuality, which supresses their sexuality.  Therefore, the female will be in the expectation that the male will make all of the right moves.  Women are less likely to take on relationship challenges, but they instead act in the role as "challenger".  If a man is interested in this or that female, her Mars will show him her challenging spirit.  By meeting her Mars standards, a man will impress her.  Women also base their physical standards of male attractiveness on Mars, rather than Venus.  Mars represents the body in its natural form, which is what women tend to appreciate more in men. While Venus often represents the part of us that is softer, Mars represents the part of us that is harder.  Women are attracted to this strength in men.  Men do not project their Mars on the women in their lives, but they do have sexual expectations.  You see, Mars represents masculinity; the ability to compete and conquer.  Men relate to this aspect of relationships and life in general.  Therefore, they are more than likely to assume the role of pursuer when it comes to relationships. Yet, sexuality involves cooperation from the other partner.  In most cases, Mars becomes more subtle as it works to compliment his Venusian energies and charm his way into her life.  Of course his Mars will still motivate him to be assertive and take on the challenge of new relationships. But he needs sexual compatibility in order to be happy in his relationships.

When Mars is dignified, the native is more decisive and passionate.  When Mars is debilitated, the native is more unsure and slow to build passion.

Jupiter

Jupiter is the planet of expansion, philosophy and travel.  More importantly, Jupiter is the planet of chance and luck. Through Jupiter, we usually desire to experience and grow from our experiences.  So how does Jupiter affect our relationships?

Relationships are a part of our everyday experiences.  When we decide to take our relationships to another level, we are deciding to expand upon our experience with an individual.  This is when Jupiter comes in to play. Jupiter is the planet that will show us the chances we are willing to take in relationships and the parts of our relationship we wish to expand upon. Like Venus, Jupiter is a benefic planet. This means our focus with this planet is on the positive aspects of relationships and the benefits that can come from being with a person. Jupiter is not a planet that only focuses on the physical benefits.  The greatest benefit Jupiter can give is knowledge, faith, and optimism in life. All these things can be developed through our relationships.

Jupiter also represents our more excessive sides, and in relationships there are times when we do things to excess.

When Jupiter is dignified this would mean that the natives have more appreciation for inner growth through experience. These natives will take advantage of their opportunities.  When Jupiter is debilitated, this would mean that the natives have less appreciation for inner growth and they are more concerned with personal benefits.  The natives with debility may not take advantage of their opportunities.

What each native may desire and experience by Jupiter sign:

Jupiter in Aries: The native wants to experience a relationship that motivates their sense of challenge and adventure.

Jupiter in Taurus: The native wants to experience a relationship with an abundance of pleasure and/or money.

Jupiter in Gemini: The native wants to experience a relationship in which something new is always happening.  Jupiter is considered in detriment in Gemini, which means the native is less concerned with inner growth and they may not appreciate their opportunities as much as others.

Jupiter in Cancer: The native wants to experience a relationship with deep emotional bonding and support.  Jupiter is considered exalted in Cancer, which means the natives will be more open to new opportunities and inner growth.

Jupiter in Leo: The native wants to experience a relationship with positive energy, plenty of amusements, and recognition.

Jupiter in Virgo: The native wants to experience a relationship that is standard and dependable.  Traditionally, Jupiter is considered in detriment in Virgo, which means the natives may not appreciate inner growth from experiences as much as others. They may also struggle to show appreciation towards new experiences.

Jupiter in Libra: The native wants to experience a relationship that is beautiful and harmonious, with a lifelong partner by their side.

Jupiter in Scorpio: The native wants to experience a relationship that is deep, passionate, intense...and maybe even a little dangerous.

Jupiter in Sagittarius: The native wants to experience a relationship that is fun, expansive, and faith building.  The native may want to experience many adventures with their partners.  Jupiter is in domicile in Sagittarius, which means the native focuses on inner growth and new opportunities.

Jupiter in Capricorn: The native wants to experience a relationship that gives them tangible benefits and stability.  They may enjoy being in a relationship that furthers their career or social status in some way.  They need constant encouragement.  Jupiter is falling in Capricorn, which means the native will struggle to take on new opportunities. Inner growth will also be met with road blocks.

Jupiter in Aquarius: The native wants to experience a relationship that is unique and progressive.

Jupiter in Pisces: The native wants to experience a relationship that appeals to the imagination, that is spiritual, and easygoing.  Jupiter is traditionallly in domicile in Pisces, which means the natives will appreciate inner growth and new opportunities.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Jupiter, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Saturn

Most people do not see how Saturn's influence can affect relationships.  But Saturn is very important to consider, particularly if we are considering being in a marriage or a committed relationship. Saturn is the planet of boundaries, discipline, law, and duty/responsibilities.  These characterisics may not seem ideal, but they are necessary for long term security.  With Saturn, relationships will run more smoothly.

While women tend to expect more commitment and dependability in relationships, men also determine whether they should commit according to how dependable, rational, and disciplined their partner is.  Both males and females also need their boundaries respected within the context of relationships.  Through the signs, we can see how Saturn will affect the nature of each native.

If Saturn is dignified, the native will be quite stable and secure. If Saturn is debilitated, the native will feel insecure and unstable in life.  Unlike the planets I have mentioned above, Saturn lasts for three years in one sign.  Natives that are closer in age to the partner may have the same Saturn sign.

What each native needs and how each native behaves by Saturn sign:

Saturn in Aries: This native takes on duties and responsibilities rather quickly, which means they will be quick about commitment especially if they are women. They are usually quite independent and self-reliant. However, they do not have a lot of tolerance or patience when dealing with the weaknesses of others.  If the partner does not respond immediately to situations, this native may feel quite insecure. At the same time, if the partner responds too soon without consulting them first, they will be equally as upset.  It is best to warn them before dating them if you are not interested in long term commitment.  They need a decisive partner in their lives otherwise there will be stress. Saturn is falling in Aries, which means the native finds it harder to keep stability in their lives.

Saturn in Taurus: This native needs a financially stable partner in their lives.  It is unacceptable to start long term relationships without money.  The partner is usually patient otherwise and needs peace in their relationships.  They need a partner who does not have "baggage" from the past.  The cleaner the partner's reputation is, the more secure this native will feel.

Saturn in Gemini: This native is quite logical and rational.  They may not commit until they have experienced their life independently.  They have a lot of nervous energy and they may be quite pessimistic sometimes. This means they need a partner that does not make strenuous demands.

Saturn in Cancer:  The native is family oriented.  If thinking of being in a relationship with these natives, the partner must first get to know (and accept) the native's family. They may not commit easily however, because they want to protect their feelings from harm.  The men with this position may find commitment harder if the partner is overly critical.  While these natives may not seem so, they are quite sensitive.  They need a partner that builds them up rather than tear them down. Saturn is considered in detriment in Cancer, which means the native will feel insecure and unstable.

Saturn in Leo: The native will commit to things when and how they want to.  In order to commit to a long term relationship, they must know that the partner is willing to do anything for them.  They are usually the one in charge of the relationship, therefore they are not normally dependent.  They may be a bit selfish at times, more concerned about their own success and personal benefits. Traditionally, Saturn is considered in detriment in the sign of Leo, which means the native may struggle to have security and stability in their lives.

Saturn in Virgo: The native is practical and resourceful, and so commitment is usually made when the native finds that the situation will be useful to them.  The native tends to be a perfectionist, so the partners must be tolerant.  They may be critical of their partners at times as well. If the partner is interested in this native, remember that cleanliness and hygiene is very important.  This native may even be picky about the weight of the partner if they do not seem healthy.  The partner's habits or tendencies are what they pay most attention to.

Saturn in Libra: The native is usually partnership oriented, therefore they make the perfect marriage partners.  They are dutiful and considerate, but they do not commit to a person without hard work.  In some instances, they may have high demands that make it hard for partners to meet.  They need much cooperation and harmony with partners. Saturn is exalted in Libra, which means the native will find it easy to develop stability and security.

Saturn in Scorpio: The native has the mind of a business executive, therefore success is very important. They will be attracted to partnerships that further their status or careers in someway.  I don't want to say they are "users" but they do appreciate partners that can give them public benefits.  These natives are quite private and secretive, so they need a partner that can keep things close to their chest.

Saturn in Sagittarius: The native has a strong need for morality and faith in their life. It is very important that whoever they partner with shares similar moral beliefs or ethics.  These are the kinds of natives that may find it harder to partner with someone who has different political beliefs or different religious beliefs. They are quite charitable and generous, but they do not appreciate being used. Saturn grounds the normally excessive Sagittarian traits, making the native more responsible for their actions. This means they will hold their own partners to the same values.

Saturn in Capricorn: The native is a hard worker who believes that whatever they do in life there will be consequences or rewards. They will not get involved with relationships without establishing their own life first. They are all about being responsible and dutiful. They want partners in their life that do not cause drama.  The argumentative types or people who are overly sensitive should not attempt to date these natives. They can be cold at times if the native does not have other sensitive caring energies in the natal chart.  Saturn is in domicile in Capricorn, which means stability and security is of high priority to the native.

Saturn in Aquarius: The native is usually very logical and objective, although there are times when they can be closed-minded towards other people's ideas.  The natives may not commit as easily without making sure their independence will remain.  They have a different view of life than most people, and this may also apply to relationships. They do know how to make even the worst of relationships work because they are innovative and adaptable.  But this does not mean they will tolerate relationship issues for long. It is a lot easier for them to detach from relationships that cause emotional drama.  Saturn is in domicile in this sign, which means the native is very stable and secure.

Saturn in Pisces: The native is a little too stressed out when it comes to daily life, so the native needs a stress free partnership.  They are not the kind of natives that will feel obligated to do anything lavish for wedding anniversaries, Valentine's Day, birthdays, etc (if they remember).  Therefore, they need partners that are willing to with the flow and simply let the relationship develop on its own.  They can be quite pessimistic as partners, so it is important that they have partners that do not fuss at them constantly or put them down.  They may not have a normal way of doing things in life, but they do have their own useful methods.  A partner that can accept this and ride with it will be successful in relationships with these natives. The native needs a partner who is as self-sacrificing as they are.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Saturn, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Neptune

Neptune is considered a generational planet, therefore this planet will more than likely reflect an entire peer group.  It lasts 7 to 8 years in one sign at a time, which means most people are dating partners with the same Neptune sign (unless the native's Neptune is on a cusp day).  Because of this, most astrologers do not find this planet to feel as personal as other planets in astrology.  Yet, Neptune does have significance on our view of love and romance.

Neptune is the planet of imagination, illusion, and idealism.  The idea of "universal love" has also been pinned with the great Neptune, which means Neptune represents love in an abstract way.  When we as humans approach romance in our lives, we have a tendency to let our ideals influence our romantic interest.  From the movies we watch, the music we listen to, all the way down to the novels we read...these creative mediums represent Neptune.  And guess what? Our romantic ideals are formed from these things as well.  Usually, Neptune has a stronger influence on us when we are younger, more naive, and just beginning to develop interest in life.  As we get older and experience more, Neptune's influence lessens.  Yet, deep inside of us we always carry a bit of a dreamer in us, hoping to find that beautiful romance found in media.  In the realm of Neptune everything is pure, with no flaws. This means that in this realm we may expect perfection in our relationships, wanting our partners to fulfill our imaginative visions. Through the signs, we can see what ideals have influenced each generation and how that will affect their approach to relationships.  Because some generations have passed (or are not here in our world yet), I will only give the romantic "possibilities" that will come from each generation.

Neptune has been described as the "higher octave" of Venus. While Venus represents our physical display of love and affection, Neptune represents our love scenerios. Venus connects through physical desire for another, while Neptune connects through emotional connection.

There are some astrologers that do believe Neptune has a dignified position and a debilitated position.  However, there is often controversery regarding this understanding.  Astrologers who do believe Neptune has a ranking system sometimes do not agree which sign Neptune finds "dignity" or "debility".  For the sake of this section, I will focus on the most agreed upon positions for Neptune.  When Neptune is dignified, this could mean that the generation is extremely imaginative and creative.  These natives long for connection. When Neptune is debilitated, this could mean that the generation struggles with creativity and have a more limited imagination. These natives often feel disconnected.

What each generation longs for by Neptune sign:

Neptune in Aries: Excitement, action, courage, and adventure are what they long for in their romantic lives.  This generation may be more idealistic when it comes to sexual encounters. Women may be more idealistic about men.

Neptune in Taurus: Luxury, sensuality, stability, and peace are what they long for in their romantic lives.  This generation may value traditional standards of romance.  They may also emphasize physical beauty over depth.

Neptune in Gemini: Communication, new experiences, youthfulness, and change are what they long for in their romantic lives.  This generation may be interested in new romantic trends.

Neptune in Cancer: Comfort, support, family, and nostaligia are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may see romantic love in the form of nurture.  Men may be more idealistic about women. Some astrologers consider Neptune to be exalted in the sign of Cancer, making the natives extremely imaginative and creative. These natives have a strong sense of connection, especially with those they consider "family".

Neptune in Leo:  Glamor, fame, drama, and amusements are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may see relationships as a form of amusement. They may put strong emphasis on romance in their lives.  Some astrologers consider Neptune to be exalted in the sign of Leo, making the natives extremely imaginative and creative. These natives have a strong sense of connection, especially with those they consider "lovers".

Neptune in Virgo: Service, reliability, purity, and simplicity are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may see romantic love as a reward for hard work.  Neptune is considered in detriment here, which means the natives are less concerned with creativity and imagination. They do not need anything flashy in their romantic lives in order to be happy, but they may struggle to connect with romantic partners emotionally.

Neptune in Libra: Beauty, harmony, sociability, and charm are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may be interested in dating and marriage at an early age in life.

Neptune in Scorpio: Passion, intensity, power, and transformation are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may have taboo ideas on romance.  They may even see romance as dangerous at times. Forbidden romances are more interesting to these natives.

Neptune in Sagittarius: Optimism, exotic encounters, morality/ethics, and heroism are what they long for in their romantic lives.  Romance may be seen as a journey or an adventure for these natives.

Neptune in Capricorn: Success, respect, recognition/social status, and dependability are what they long for in their romantic lives.  These natives may be a little too realistic, believing that all relationships require hard work and determination in order to succeed. Long term commitment is what these natives seek and dream about. Some astrologers believe Neptune is falling in Capricorn, causing the native to have many mental roadblocks to their imagination and creativity. These natives may choose to remain disconnected emotionally in relationships.

Neptune in Aquarius:  Friendship, independence, originality, and progress are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may prefer friendship over romantic encounters. The natives may find it difficult to connect with others, so they may be less idealistic about love. Some astrologers consider Neptune to be falling in Aquarius, causing roadblocks when it comes to creativity and imagination. These natives usually remain disconnected emotionally within relationships.

Neptune in Pisces: Imagination, creativity, spirituality, and compassion are what they long for in their romantic lives.  They may feel that romance can be found anywhere in their lives.  They may believe that love comes with sacrifice.  They may encourage long-suffering relationships. Neptune is considered in domicile in the sign of Pisces, which means the natives will be highly imaginative and creative, focused on connecting with the universe in some way.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Neptune, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Pluto

The planet Pluto also has significance in our understanding of relationships, especially in regards to sex. Pluto has been described as the planet of transformation.  Relationships are a part of that transformative experience because through relationships we understand deeper parts of ourselves that may be sub-conscious psychologically. We then begin to change as a result of the influence.  Through relationships, especially long term ones, we begin to see the darker parts of our natures; the part of us that is usually "forbidden" to others.  Pluto represents those forbidden, darker sides to us. Pluto can give us sexual magnetism, as we often use our "sexual power" to influence and control our relationships with others.

Pluto has been described as the "higher octave" of Mars. Mars represents the passionate and instinctual part of sex, the part that involves challenging ourselves and taking action. Pluto represents the psychological part of sex, the internal parts of us that feels moved and influenced by our sexual experiences.  Mars is the actions we take to procreate; Pluto is the effect (and impact) of our own actions, including what it takes to orgasm.  The moment we begin to connect with another on this level is the moment we may begin to find a newer part of ourselves that we never thought was there.  Through the signs, we can understand the deeper part of our natures that is seeking to understand our sexual experiences fully.

Pluto is a generational planet lasting from 14 years to almost 30 years in one sign. That means this energy will reflect an entire generation of people. Whether Pluto finds dignity or debility in the signs is still up for debate among astrologers.  If Pluto were to be dignified, this would mean that an entire generation of natives would emphasize power and inner transformation.  If Pluto were to be debilitated, this would mean that an entire generation struggles with gaining or maintaining power and inner transformation will be stifled.

What each native desires and how their desires will affect themselves and others by sign:

Pluto in Aries: The natives see sex as an adventure.  Any sexual act performed is considered an act of courage.  The native has much sexual power and influence, especially men of this generation.  They use the power of their vitality to maintain sexual relationships.

Pluto in Taurus: The natives see sex as a purely physical experience, influencing their senses.  They may decide not to think too deeply about it and rather see it as a form of pleasure.  They may use the power of their resources and/or physical good looks to maintain sexual relationships. Pluto is considered in detriment in Taurus, reflecting a generation that may not emphasize their sexual powers as much as other generations.  Inner transformation will also be met with roadblocks.

Pluto in Gemini: The natives see sex as an interesting activity to be explored.  They may think and ponder more about their sexual experiences rather than actually get involved sometimes. They may use their clever and powerful wit to maintain sexual relationships.

Pluto in Cancer: The natives see sex as an emotional experience, made to build stronger relationships. The native may see sex as a biological tool for creating life. Women have more sexual power and influence. These natives may use manipulation or emotional bonding to maintain sexual relationships.

Pluto in Leo: The natives see sex as a form of amusement. They may believe in exploring sex to the fullest with no restraint.  This is a generation that finds sex to be a tool for self expression.  They may use their creativity, confidence, and will-power to maintain sexual relationships.  Some astrologers consider Pluto to be exalted in the sign of Leo, reflecting a powerful and transformative generation.

Pluto in Virgo: The natives see sex as an experience that should be seen as healthy and educational.  Sex may be another form of exercise that the natives enjoy.  Purity is more emphasized, so they may make a bigger deal about sexual experiences than most.  They may use criticism (constructive or non-constructive) or self-service to maintain sexual relationships. They must beware of prostitution.

Pluto in Libra: The natives see sex as a part of the relationship experience. Sex may be seen as a tool to mend disharmony in relationships.  The natives may have power struggles as they try to bring about equality and fairness within their relationships.  They may use cooperation, diplomacy, and charm to maintain their sexual relationships.

Pluto in Scorpio: The natives see sex as a transformative experience. Some of them are not afraid to delve into the most taboo parts of sex, yet some of these natives may find the sexual realm as a dark, scary place.  Either way, there will be intrigue when it comes to the sexual experience. They may use their passion and intensity to maintain sexual relationships. To be honest, these natives may be willing to use anything to maintain their sexual relationships. Sexual power and control is very important. Pluto is considered in domicile in Scorpio, which means a generation that will be heavily focused on personal power and inner transformation.

Pluto in Sagittarius: The natives see sex as a new experience.  The may seek to be knowledgable about the subject and make others more knowledgable about it as well.  They may use this knowledge and their natural optimism to maintain their sexual relationships.

Pluto in Capricorn: The natives see sex as a duty and obligation.  They may even find sex beneficial for social success.  Regardless, they do believe in the ideology of sexual limitation.  They may use their shrewd and ambitious natures to maintain sexual relationships.

Pluto in Aquarius: The natives may see sex as an experience that can be felt more mentally than physically or emotionally. They can range from being sexually provocative to being completely averse to the sexual experience. Regardless, they take a more detached approach to their sexual experiences in life. They do not seek to maintain sexual relationships; rather they continue to leave room for change.  Some astrologers believe that Pluto is falling in the sign of Aquarius.  This would mean that natives of this generation will struggle with inner transformation and maintaining power.

Pluto in Pisces:The natives see sex as an experience that is more spiritual than physical.  Faith or divine belief may influence their sexual experiences.  The natives may be easily addicted to sex. The natives may be sensitive to both negative and positive sexual experiences.  They may use self-sacrifice, creativity, and/or flexibility to maintain sexual relationships.

Note: The more aspects there are to the native's Pluto, the more stipulations there will be. Planetary aspects can alter planets in many ways. The house placements will also alter a persons's standard for partnerships.

Uranus&Others

The planets I listed were planets that directly influence our relationship choices. While Uranus does influence and affect our relationships, Uranus is a planet that seeks to break away from anything that holds us back.  Usually, the Uranus sign reflects the nature of our inner rebel, thus it opposes anything that may bind us...that may include the binds of a relationship. Rather than representing our connections, Uranus represents how we disconnect emotionally and become more in tune with our revolutionary sides.  You can almost see Uranus as the antagonist of everything we feel committed or obligated to, which includes relationships. Uranus can be useful when it comes to sexual encounters, yet Uranus also keeps us detached from our desires. With Uranus we never demand from others; we just break free spontaneously and erratically. Uranus is the ultimate planet of autonomy.

Uranus is a generational planet lasting 7 years in one sign at a time.  In this way, Uranus has proven to be one of the most distant planets in astrology.  When considering Uranus's place in our romantic lives, it is best to examine the house position of the planet and its aspects to other planets.  When Uranus aspects other planets, there will be a need for distance and independence from the relationship in some way.  When Uranus is placed in houses, Uranus will have a more direct influence on the romantic life. Uranus may give indications as to how we may break off our relationships or the part of our lives that must be freed from the relationship.

Uranus in Aries: The native needs independence in their lives. They will break relationships in a direct and straight-forward way.

Uranus in Taurus: The native needs their own money/possessions and peace. They may find it hard to break with someone they have had relations with, so they may decide to let their relationships slowly die off. Uranus is falling in Taurus, reflecting natives who struggle with change.

Uranus in Gemini: The native needs the freedom to try new things and learn new things. They usually break off relationships through clear communication.

Uranus in Cancer: The native needs freedom to express themselves emotionally.  They usually go through bouts of emotional ups and downs, so they break up and make up with partners.

Uranus in Leo: The native needs freedom to be themselves always. Break ups will be dramatic. Uranus is in detriment in Leo, reflecting natives who are not interested in change or progress.

Uranus in Virgo: The native needs the freedom to work and provide for themselves.  They are practical and critical, so break ups will end with a lot of bickering.

Uranus in Libra:  The native needs an open social life.  They are usually reasonable but  they will always be up for a debate even when breaking up with partners.

Uranus in Scorpio: The native needs power over their own lives.  They are tough in their approach to break ups, sometimes seeking to eliminate every part of the "Ex" from their life. Uranus is exalted in Scorpio, reflecting natives who are constantly changing.

Uranus in Sagittarius: The native needs the freedom to explore and experience all that life has to offer.  The native is usually quite blunt and honest when a relationship is over. Break ups may be frequent, but they remain positive.

Uranus in Capricorn: The native needs freedom to develop their own careers.  The native is usually logical when it comes to break ups, so they will try to end relationships as calmly as possible.

Uranus in Aquarius: The native needs absolute freedom to do and be. The native will break up in a detached way, but they try to hold no grudges.  Uranus is in domicile in Aquarius reflecting natives that are concerned about change and progress.

Uranus in Pisces: The native needs ease and imagination. Breakups are not easy for them, so they do it lightly.

There are also houses that influence our love lives, as I have mentioned.

The 1st house will influence the qualities that will attract partners.  When a planet is there, it will influence our outer personality heavily.  When planets like the sun, Venus, or Jupiter are in the 1st house, the native will find popularity among various love interests.  Planets like Saturn, Mars, or Pluto in the 1st house will restrict others from getting too close. The risingng sign will especially influence the kind of people that will be attracted to us. This house also reflects our outlook on life, which would include love. For example, if a person has Aries rising or Mars in the first house, they will attract people who expect them to be leaders, energetic, and confident.  They generally have a confident and enthusiastic outlook on life and so taking romantic or sexual risks will not be a problem for them.

The 3rd house will influence how we communicate with partners. The 3rd house usually represents our social mentality, complimenting our Mercury sign, position, and aspects.  The 3rd house usually influences how we interact with people in our social environment, so this will influence how attractive we are to others.  For example, if a person has 3rd house on the cusp of Taurus or Venus in the 3rd house, their soothing communication style will more than likely attract many suitors, while if a person has Aries on the cusp or Mars, the native will have trouble with getting along with partners because of their vocal forwardness.

The 4th house may reflect the kind of partners we need in order to have a happy home life. The 4th house is our perception of family and traditions.  Therefore, the planets and cusp signs in the 4th house are influential to us when considering long term relationships. For example, if the native has Leo on the 4th house cusp or the sun in tis house, the native needs a home they can be proud of and a family that makes them proud surrounding them.  They are the queens and kings of the castle, which means their spouses will be subjected to their will.

The 5th house has the strongest influence over our romantic life. It is the house of romance, recreation, and creativity. Our sense of romance is influenced by the planets and cusp signs here.  There is no romance without the 5th house!  This house also influences casual sexual experiences; whether or not we will do this on the first date or not.  For example, if a person has Virgo on the cusp of the 5th house, the native may not be the most romantic but they are practical, logical, and will only present high quality in their romantic lives.  To them, a person can still have fun keeping it clean and rational.

The 7th house also has a stronger influence on our relationships than other houses. It is the house of partnership.  This house usually reflects the kind partners that we will attract to us.  The 7th house is meant to compliment the 1st house. The 7th house also represents how we work in a partnership. The cusp sign and planets here will influence how we cooperate with our partners and the kind of partners that seem to be drawn to us.  For example, if a person has Scorpio on the cusp of this house or Pluto the native will be drawn to partners intensely, but the partnerhsip will be filled with a controlling domineering atmosphere.  The person needs control over their relationships, which may cause intense power struggles.

The 8th house is the house of debt and commitment, as well as shared resources.  When we marry someone or commit to someone we merge with them financially, emotionally, and sexually. This house represents how we handle this merging process; what motivates our bonds.  For example, if a person has Libra on the cusp of the 8th house or Venus here they usually approach such taboo things in a classy manner and may even see these things aesthetically.  They find sex to be a merge that happens between two partners that love each other and that experience will be a deep one. Changes in their relationship will be done with much consideration of the partner.

The 9th house is the house of law and philosophy.  This house influences our marriage philosophies and our obligation to "legal marriage".  This house even represents our in-laws and second marriages.  Any planets here will influence our marriages in this way.  For example, the native with Aquarius on the cusp here or Uranus in this house may not be as faithful to the laws of marriage.  They have a freedom-loving attitude towards life and marriage...they may even believe in open marriages.  They may have sudden divorces and sudden second marriages as well.

NOTE: The north and south nodes also influence our relationships, representing our future and past experiences in relationships. The north node is exalted in Gemini, but falling in Sagittarius traditionally.  The south node is exalted in Sagittarius, but falling in Gemini traditionally.
