  Uranus

 And Its Dignities And Debilities

The planet Uranus is named after the god of the sky/heavens. This planet is the only major planet in our solar system that is named after the Greek counterpart rather than the Roman equivalent, Caelus.  This could be because of Uranus's later discovery in 1781, where the ancient Romans played no part in the identification of this planet. Uranus was also heavily affiliated with Aion who was the god of eternity and they are sometimes depicted as interchangable. Interestingly enough, the most prominent picture of Aion-Uranus is showing him holding the zodiac wheel in his hand. Uranus (who was known as "Father Sky" by the Greeks) was one the parents of the early titans in Greek mythology (one of his children included the titan Cronus, in which Saturn is the Roman equivalent of).  He was born from Gaia, the goddess that represents the other half of the world: the earth (she was referred to as Mother Earth). These primordial dieties were considered to represent the beginning of our world creation, with Uranus representing all that was above in the skies. It wasn't until Uranus was displeased with the constant creations with Gaia (showing this by locking away two giant creations in her belly), that she allied with her son Cronus and together they overthrew Uranus as the king of the sky. Uranus was the creator of many creatures, such as the cyclops (one-eyed giants) and Hecatonchires (multiple-headed beast).  He also gave birth to Erinyes, who were goddesses of vengence, especially in regards to family murder. Even from the foam of his severed genitals (which was cut off by Cronus) Aphrodite, the godesss of love and beauty was born.

Astronomically, Uranus is by far the most unique planet in our solar system. The first thing that makes this planet unique is that it was the first planet discovered by scientists.  It is the seventh planet from the sun, and though it is visible through the naked eye dimly, many people had mistaken it for a star.  While it has a slow orbit around the sun, while rotating it is tilted so far to its side that it literally orbits the sun with its axis pointing directly at the sun.  This unusual tilt causes some intense seasonal weather. Seasons on Uranus lasts almost up to 20 years. Uranus has five major moons; Ariel, Miranda, Titania, Oberon and Umbriel.  Just like Jupiter and Saturn it has rings surrounding it; at least 13 of them.  Believe it or not, it has the coldest atmosphere out of all the planets in our solar system. While it is a "gas giant" (because of its lack of a well-defined surface), it is a planet with a different kind of atmosphere than Saturn and Jupiter. In fact, it is more of an "ice giant" because most of Uranus is made up of ice.

In astrology, Uranus is an "outer planet", similar to Jupiter and Saturn in the fact that it focuses on our need to experience/help the outer world (rather than express ourselves/satisfy inner needs which is more representative of the "inner" planets).  Yet, what makes this planet different is that this planet is also one of the "universal planets".  Once we have begun to find our place in society through Jupiter and Saturn, we then begin to explore this world and connect with its influence. It is through these planets that we no longer see ourselves as individuals...but rather we see ourselves as apart of something much greater than ourselves. In this way we now want to be apart of the world and help the world in its movements.  The "universal planets" in astrology consist of the newly discovered planets in astrology and they are usually representative of an entire generation of people as they last longer in one sign at a time. Many astrologers that follow the old traditional system try to disregard the idea of these new planets, simply because they see the old system as more accurate. However, while these new planets are a mystery, they still seem to make a significant impact on us as human beings. Uranus is the first of the three generational planets, along wih Neptune and Pluto.

Uranus is the planet of revolution/rebellion, discovery, change, invention, openness, innovation, progress, and new generations. It is also a planet representing causes and current events. Uranus is a planet that is about everything new and has been nicknamed "the awakener". It is the planet that wants to break away from rigid and/or harsh ways of doing things, and open our minds to a much easier way of life.  Without Uranus, we would never see progress; the world would still be like it was a million years ago!  This is why Uranus is so important. Uranus's influence doesn't just affect us on an individual level...Uranus reflects an entire generation and that generation's future contributions to society.  It is the planet that shows us what is (or was current) within a generation.  Uranus is the planet that represents our need for independence and freedom.  Teenagers usually experience this need for independence in more dramatic ways, when they are ready to start a new life separate from their parents, teachers, and other authority figures.  This planet represents revolution. It is representative of what motivates us to break free and how we break free from "confinement".   At this stage of our life is when we also begin to identify ourselves as a "generation".  We know what is happening now and what is fresh, even if older generations cannot keep up. Uranus is also the planet that encourages us to embrace originality, both in ourselves and others. This is a planet representing innovation and invention.  Any new social ideas or progressive inventions to help humanity is definitely up Uranus's alley. It is the planet representing discovery through experimentation. While Uranus is a planet that seeks to make life easier for us, it is also a planet that causes chaos.  You see, it is through chaos that we find "true" peace and security.  Uranus represents breaking news...letting us know what is actually happening in the world around us.  It inspires us to develop causes in order to create true equality.  Uranus is considered the "higher octave" of Mercury.  While Mercury mostly represents our need to learn and communicate with others, Uranus represents our need to discover new ways of doing things in order to make life easier for humanity. Mercury thinks of clever ideas to make things work; Uranus wants the world to function in an easier fashion and thinks of the possible ways to do it. Uranus inspires curiosity on a much broader scale than Mercury, which is a planet more concerned about immediate environments.  Just like Jupiter, Uranus wants to open our minds to more possibilities and embrace differences.  The difference is Jupiter is a planet that represents strong moral beliefs...Uranus however seeks to break free from even the "faith" the binds us.  In this way, Uranus is a planet that wants to open our minds on a greater scale than even Jupiter.

When Uranian energy is strong in a generation's (or an individual's) chart, there is a need for novelty and to be up to date with what is happening in the world.  This generation experiences progress like never before.  There is a strong need to break free from conservative ideas and a need for life to be easier for everyone.  It is a chaotic generation; a revolutionary, yet innovative group of people. They stand out from all other generations because of their originality.  They embrace the unusual and quirky parts of human existence. If Uranus is too strong in a person's, they may experience more chaos than usual.  This person may get caught up in the cause for freedom that they forget why they took up the cause in the first place. This native will constantly be rebelling for the sake of rebelling. There may be too much identification with the causes and ideas they come up with.  There may be so much obsession with being "original" that they become paranoid when they are not "unique" enough compared to others.  There is also a lack of respect for old yet valuable traditions. If the Uranian energy is blocked, it can represent a generation (or an individual) that struggles to handle change.  They want others to approve of them so much that they don't embrace their own uniqueness.  They may struggle to work with others on causes and may have a need to control their life from changing. Being open-minded is a challenge in this regard, and they may not care to improve upon humanity's situation unless it affects them personally.  Uranus lasts 7 years per sign. Many people believe that the planet Uranus also represents Astrology, which is an artistic practice that is most understood when we have an open mind.

The following dignities and debilities are new to the dignity/debility system, as Uranus is a newly discovered planet.  Of all the generational planets,  its newly placed ranking system is the least disputed by modern astrologers.

Uranus in Aquarius-The Water Bearers of Uranus

Uranus+Aquarius=INNOVATIVE THINKERS!             Dignity (+5)

The sign of Aquarius is depicted by a man who holds an urn with water pouring out onto what seems to be the earth.  The story behind this sign is about a youth named Ganymede that Zeus happen to "fall in love" with.  As was customery in ancient Greece, Zeus "took" the boy to Mt. Olympus to be a servant to the gods. Particularly, he was cup-bearer.  The boy became fed up in this position however and rebelled by pouring all of the drinks of the gods onto the earth, flooding the earth for many days.  While this was bad for the gods, this was good for humankind in the long run because the Greek's society (which was made up of mostly farmers) believed this is how rain came to fall on the earth.  The sign of Aquarius is not simply representative of a cup-bearer...it is also representative of the greatest water-bearer of all: the clouds above. This is also why the sign of Aquarius is affiliated with thunder, lightning, and electric currents...elements that are usually evident during a storm.

For the sake of this interpretation I will be using the clouds as an example of this sign's description.

There are numerous classifications of clouds, yet they usually all fall into either three categories.  Stratus clouds are clouds that are thin without much of a form, and they usually do not cause dangerous storms...although they do have precipitation.  Comulonimbus clouds are the complete opposite of the Stratus ones.  While it is similar in the fact that is does produce percipitation, these clouds are capable of causing massive storms.  These clouds are also capable of creating "funnel clouds" that potentially causes tornadoes. Yet, when they are not causing storms, they usually come in various beautiful forms that are intriguing to look at.  Cirrus clouds are wispy and rare.

Uranus is considered exalted in the sign of Aquarius, which is also considered one of its new rulers.  Many astrologers who follow the traditional system of dignities are readily dismissive of the idea that Uranus is apart of the dignity system (thus dismissing the idea of Uranus being both Aquarius's ruling planet as well as the idea that Uranus is in domicile in this sign).  Instead people have stayed with the idea that Aquarius's sole ruler is Saturn. While I do believe Saturn has a lot of influence on Aquarius, I do believe that the planet Uranus also has a strong influence on the sign of Aquarius. (See the planet Saturn for more information). What makes Uranus so special in this regard is that it is a planet that represents both change and astrology. When we embrace this energy, we are able to keep an open mind especially when it comes to practices like astrology. Thus, I do see that Uranus could possibly be one of the rulers and influencers on the sign of Aquarius and I do not believe this planet's dignity (or sign of comfortability) should be counted out.  Many astrologers believe that because it is a generational planet (lasting for many years in one sign at a time) that it would be hard to examine the true energy coming from the planet according to each sign, and therefore hard to determine exactly whether it is comfortable or not from our current viewpoint in each sign.  However, most positions in astrology are not based off of definite truths.  Most astrological positions represent possibilities...definition would only limit those possibilities and interfere with the idea that we have free will as human beings, capable of shaping our own life and future.  Therefore, with these descriptions, I will be examing the possibilities that could come with having these planets in dignified/debilitated positions.

Uranus is the planet of innovation, opennesss, revolution, discovery, and change/progress.  Aquarius is the sign of genius, originality, invention, humantarianism, social order, aloofness, truth, and objectivity.  In this sign, Uranus can open the mind to discovering new ways to progress humanity.  Uranus is free to experiment in a sign that is objective and through this sign "truth" is discovered.  There is genius in the sign of Aquarius, which is the perfect place for Uranus's innovative energy.  Through social order and humanitarianism found in the sign of Aquarius, Uranus has purpose for revolution, change, and ultimately progress.  Natives with this position are a part of a generation of innovative thinkers and have the possibility to be remembered as "movers and shakers" in the world.  This combination indicates a group of people that will be concerned with humanitarian causes.  They will want for humanity to experience true equality and may be involved in creating a more equal social order.  This may be a generaton that wants to make a mark on their generation and be "different" from other generations of people.  This combination reflects genius, and so this may mean that this will be a generation of people that make new discoveries and may even invent spectacular new methods or technology. Even if they do not actually invent something tangibly, they may be capable of making great social changes. This is because they are open-minded; they would rather accept people as they are and they also would like to be accepted as they are, quirks and all. The people with this position are "truth-tellers" and when they see a flaw in a system, they will be open and honest about it. They will especially be outspoken when a system is unfair or too rigid.  This is a generation that believes in freedom, and they will try to exercise all of their freedoms and defend all of their rights as much as possible. Yet, they are very logical and they usually have a reasonable explanation behind everything they do. This is a generation that will experience a progressive world and will be inspired from it to create their own future separate from their elders. They may be the most open to astrology.

There is a downside to this position.  Uranus in Aquarius natives have the possibility of causing a highly chaotic world filled with upheavel.  As teens, they may be the most rebellious group of youths ever experienced. Structure is constantly questioned and peace is difficult to establish.  This generation may feel they are superior as a generation, and may be against anything traditional (unless they have dignified Saturnalian energy).  There is a detachment to the "ego" where they only see themselves through a movement or a cause (unless there is strong sun energy in the chart).  They may even lack self-respect or dignity, doing anything to appear different or original in some way (the houses can shine more light on the area in which this energy may be manifested).  They may be less concerned about being in leadership positions, and may be more concerned about being free. This generation may be too reliant on advances to get through life the easy way, only to be met with destructive ends. This generation is being taught the cosmic lesson that moderation is the key to happiness. As generations, they must avoid rebelling for the sake of rebelling.  Its fine to be original and be innovative for the sake of freedom...but those positive qualities can be useful for leadership positions if they give it a chance.  They are encouraged to respect those in authority...the authority figures can help establish justice, equality, and social order in the world.  If they learn to balance their rebellious energies with a respect for those generations that have helped them get where they are today, much more will be accomplished in our progressive world. (Note: While many generations with this position have not come about in this world as of yet...who knows...maybe upon "discovery" of this knowledge they will benefit from these astrological truths and avoid making the mistakes that are possible with their generation. :D)

Any native with Uranus in the 11th house (house of humanitarianism and causes) may relate to the description above on a personal level. If there are planets in Leo or Taurus in the natal chart of an individual, that person may stand out amongst their generation for better or worse.

If Uranus has negative aspects (especially to "inner" planets) or Uranus is accidentally debilitated by an individual's house placement there may be more setbacks when trying to gain the benefits of Uranus. (The house placement of this planet will have more of an affect on natives on an individual level).

Aquarius is a fixed sign (immovable) and an air sign (mental).

Uranus in Scorpio-The Scorpions of Uranus

Uranus+Scorpio=Deep Thinkers!              Dignity (+4)

The Scorpion is an arachnid, mostly well known for having eight legs, pincers, and a stinger at the end of their tail.  While they are small compared to the other zodiac depictions, the Scorpion is known to have a venom that can make even the largest animal fall to its knees.  The interesting part is many of them are in control of how powerful they want their venom to be. They usually only sting when they see someone (or something) as a serious threat.  Most times they use their pincers to get what they want.  These creatures thrive better in dark places where they can protect themselves from predators as well as ambush prey for food.  Scorpions have often be symbolic of betrayal, evil, sexuality (because of their ability to "penetrate"), and yet they also symbolize healing practices. While the venom of a scorpion can be dangerous, it can also heal against venomous stings/bites. Even when they lose a limb, these arachnids have fantastic regenerative powers.  Scorpions are hard to kill, mainly because of their hard outer shell. A common theory about Scorpions is that even when you freeze them, they can last for many days.  Scorpions are ambushers and stalkers when they are looking for food.   They have a strong defense mechanism, and can remain still without flinching until they have you in their grasp. One of the most phenominal things about Scorpions is there ability to glow under ultraviolet light. As to why they do this is a mystery, and this makes this part of the Scorpion more complex.

Uranus is considered to be exalted in the sign of Scorpio by modern astrologers.  This exaltation is the least disputed among astrologers, and I also agree that this dignity could be very possible.  Uranus is the planet of innovation, originality, revolution, invention, discovery, change, and progress.  Scorpio is the sign of transformation, power, depth, intensity, desire, regeneration, and sexuality.  With Uranus in this sign, Uranus can now go deeper when trying to make discoveries.  In this sign, invention and innovation comes with passion and intensity.  Uranus's need for revolution is done in a powerful way that will transform the world, but also heal it.  Uranus is not necessarily in domicile in this sign...after all Scorpio is much more "watery" than the more "airy" Uranus.  However, in this sign there is a lot of energy coming from the planet. The planet in this sign can do more than it could in any other sign.

The generation with this position have the possibility to make deep and transformative changes in the world. They may intensely want to make a difference in the world and will do whatever it takes to advance society.  They may want to attack issues that other people overlook, in order to make "true" change.  Scorpio is the sign representing all that is taboo, and with Uranus in this position these natives are truly open to things that most people would find disgusting. Scorpio is ruled by Mars (planet of action and sexuality) and Pluto (planet of power and depth). Changes for them first happens in their own lives, before they tackle outside issues. They may strongly focus on sex or the sexes and may encourage that people embrace differences in these areas. They may also focus on areas involving the usage of drugs or alcohol. They are not uncomfortable fighting for taboo freedoms because they truly understand darkness. These natives are not afraid of things they cannot see.  In fact, this is at the root of everything they discover.  They like to explore the very depths of things and they are willing to risk "mixing dangerous chemicals" in order to get better results. They have alot of intensity and when they make a change, they want to make a legacy for other generations to carry on. You see, when they see "progress" they see a legacy they can pass on through the psychological level of people's minds...thus they give their all for the sake of making lasting impressions on other generations.  They passionately want to be original, and what marks them as a generation usually reflects all the things they have done or how powerfully they did it. Despite their need to destroy rigid constructs at the core, this is an energy that is regenerative in nature.  These people destroy things and recreate new societies that are stronger and less vulnerable to harshness.  After the "chaos", there is usually "peace". They may seek to make astrological changes.

The downside to this position is pretty obvious.  This can present a generation that is obsessed with causes to the point they go to the extreme.  They become so fascinated with destruction that there is hardly any room for peace.  This generation can be so destructive that it can cause psychological damage to others.  This is an energy that is highly rebellious. They are defensive and defiant when it comes to any institution or law. They may not be against breaking the law and thus this can cause very chaotic environments. Something about being controlled makes them feel uneasy. They may be drawn to conspiracy theories, simply because they don't want to feel "brainwashed". They get lost in causes, sometimes even carrying on a cause after everything has officially been destroyed/settled (possibly because they can't trust in the stability of "progress").  They are so eager for chaos they may even look for reasons to cause civil unrest. They can either represent a generation of great progress or a generation of great destruction.  There are several cosmic lessons this generation will be learning. People of this generation (and future generations) must be careful not to take on a legacy that will only lead to destruction.  They must beware of fighting for a cause with no purpose.  They should avoid getting so caught up in the cause for freedom that they forget what they were fighting for.  There is a limit to our freedoms...and this is for the sake of our own personal saftey as well as the saftey of others.  They must be cautious of using criminal activity to better make their cause known...it can only kill the cause. They must avoid being paranoid that their freedoms will always be taken away from them. As a generation, they are capable of great changes if they avoid taking things to the extreme. (Note: While many generations with this position have not come about in this world as of yet...who knows...maybe upon "discovery" of this knowledge they will benefit from these astrological truths and avoid making the mistakes that are possible with their generation. :D)

Natives with Uranus in the 8th house (house of transformation) may relate to this description as individuals.  If there are planets in Leo or Taurus in the chart of an individual, they may feel different from those of their generation, for better or worse.

If there are negative aspects to Uranus (especially from "inner" planets), planets in signs that Mars/Pluto doesn't agree with, Mars/Pluto is debilitated by sign placement, or Mars/Pluto/Uranus is accidentally debilitated by house placement you will experience more setbacks as an individual when trying to gain Uranian energy.  (The house placement of Uranus affects native the most on an individual level).

Uranus in Taurus-The Bulls of Uranus

Uranus+Taurus=Facile Thinkers          Debility (-4)

Cattle are the most common domesticated species in the world.  They are responsible for most of our dairy produce as well as consumer meat.  Cattle at one time were even useful for pulling large or heavy objects (these cattle they refer to as Oxen).  While bulls have the reputation of being ferocious and cows have the reputation of being volatile when their calfs are threatened, cattle honestly like peace and would rather move about at their own pace.  They spend most of their time grazing and interacting with one another.  They do not like changes, and this is when you see their most ferocious sides.  There used to be a myth that bulls were angered by the color red, paricularly during the bull fights of Spain.  However, it turns out that it wasn't the color red that angered the bull, but rather the movement of a matadores cape while bullfighting.  Bulls and cows are antsy when there are sudden movements.  Most cattle understand their environment through their senses, especially through taste. The bull has often been considered a sign representing pleasure, fertility, and creation.

Uranus is considered falling in the sign of Taurus.  Uranus is the planet of innovation, change, rebellion/revolution, invention, and ultimately progress. The sign of Taurus is a sign that represents peace, security, pleasure, conventionality, and tradition.  Obviously these energies are very different. In the sign of Taurus, Uranus will have a hard time expressing the need for change...because Taurus is a sign of tradition and peace.  Uranian inventions are only used for security and pleasure of the senses rather than advancement in this sign.  Therefore, progress is very slow in this sign.  Many may wonder: why is this not considered a detrimenting placement for Uranus? Wouldn't this cause a conflict of natures?  The first thing that must be considered is Uranus is a planet that wants to make changes for the sake of making life easier for all of us.  While Taurus is a sign representing covention, it is still a sign that also represents ease.  Therefore, in this sign Uranus has the potential to accomplish ease if the setbacks of conventionality can be overcome in this sign. This means that "true" progress could happen much faster here than when Uranus is in detriment.

Natives with this position are always looking for new ways to make their life easier...in a physical way.  Unfortunately, this means that progress will only come if there are tangible advantages.  The need to make a better society is thus clouded by a need for money and security, causing a conflict of desires.  Thus, they tend to "build upon" constructs to advance in society rather than make changes. In fact, many people of this generation may mark their generation by their traditional preservations. While this is not always bad, there may be a struggle to make changes that could be positive to humanity.  There may be natives (especially with more "rebellious" energy) who feel confined behind a traditional world, especially if they are living a life that isn't as comfortable.  This generation has a tendency to ignore the changes happening in their environment, only with a concern when it affects their own security as individuals.  When dramatic things happen around them, they may try to return things to "normal" rather than embrace the change. This is a stubborn and dogmatic generation that may struggle to open their minds to individual quirks in themselves and others. As teenagers, they may be constantly trying to fit in with society. The cosmic lesson of this generation is to accept change with grace.  They must learn to be a little more open-minded. Accepting individual human "quirks" will create is "true" peace.

The upside to this energy is that they are proponents of peace and security.  While they are very security-oriented, they are capable of understanding the value of the physical world. Even when they make changes, they always consider treasured traditions. This is because they understand the price of freedom and therefore they are capable of moderating their energies. In fact, many of them may be active when it comes to moderating/preserving land, nature life, culture, and artifacts. They are innovative in their use of the land's resources. They may make excellent farmers, because they tend to be geniuses when it comes to agriculture and land.  They may also be good at mass production, where they can make products available for a large group of people.  Taurus is ruled by the planet Venus, the planet of love and beauty. These qualities may influence their inventive nature. They may be the most innovative fashion designers because of their original yet tasteful ideas on fashion.  Taurus is a sign affiliated with music. Many original musical artists hae this position. They may be innovative when it comes to any of the arts.  They fight for causes that guarentee security and the freedom to own whatever they choose. There are so many great things they can do for society, and unlike other generations it will come in the form of something that can be tangibly used for many generations. They may prefer traditional astrological methods.

All natives with Uranus in the 2nd house (house of material possessions) may relate to this description as individuals. If the native has planets in Aquarius or Scorpio, the native may have more Uranian energy, and may stand out as original people in their society.

If they have positive aspects (especially to the "inner" planets), planets in signs that Venus does not agree with, Venus is debilitated by sign position, or Venus/Uranus is accidentally debilitated by house placement you may have more advantages as an individual when trying to gain the benefits of this planet. (Uranus in the houses may affect the native on a more personal level.

Uranus in Leo-The Lions of Uranus

Uranus+Leo=grandiose thinking            Debility (-5)

The lion is considered to be the "King of the Jungle" among all other species of predators, because it is the most dominate predator.  Its dominance is classified by the fact that it is capable of taking down even larger animals twice its size. Their hunting style is very creative because they are able to adapt their hunting style according to their prey.  One of the most unique characteristics of the lion is the fact that it roars to bring attention to itself.  This is one of the ways that it marks its territory as well (along as rubbing its mane on whatever spot they deem as theirs). While the female lionesses of the "pride" do the most hunting, the male lion is usually the leader of the pride and patrols his domain from being taken by other lions.  Male lions are highly territorial, and they will even fight their brothers and sons to secure their spot in the "pride".  Lions without a pride are nomadic and will do whatever it takes to take a pride from another lion. Lions, while skilled hunters, do not spend all of their daily time hunting.  In fact, lions rest for at least 20 hours a day.

Uranus is considered in detriment in Leo, according to modern astrologers.  There is much controversy surrounding this idea.  This is because Uranus is capable of making great changes in this sign.  However, what must be considered is the other potentials of a combination like this one. Uranus is the planet of change, innovation, causes, originality, revolution, discovery, human progression, and ultimately open-mindedness.  Leo is the sign of pride, drama, dignity, leadership, attention, and self-expression.  Uranus in this sign may find it difficult to make changes, especially changes that are positive for human progression. How so? Because Uranus is in a sign that is focused on the pride.  With all of this prideful energy, open-mindedness can be difficult. Discovery is found for the sake of leadership and personal attention.  Innovation cannot come without dignity, neither can originality. Causes become a reason to express the "self" rather than to improve our overall environment.  Natives with this position have quite a conflict here.  Many of them may want to invent new things and they may even want to be "movers and shakers" that help humankind progress. And with every native position, they also want freedom.  Yet, these things can be very one-sided in their case. While they want freedom to be original/individual human beings, they may not believe that everyone else around them should be given the same respect. While they want others to accept their quirks (which they tend to be very proud of by the way), they may not be tolerant when it comes to the quirks of others.  And while they believe in freedom, they want to dominate others and have a constant need to be leaders over others. They tend to be very inventive and they may want to see humankind progress as a generation...yet they may be more concerned at times with their own personal recognition separate from their contributions to society at large.  While they may often profess to be proponents of freedom for mankind, the minute they get a chance to be leaders they may abandon their causes in favor of being in charge.  As leaders they may feel they can do whatever they want. These attributes can cause a strong conflict of the wills/desires within this generation of natives.  Uniting for a cause is more difficult because everyone wants a piece of the recognition as individuals within this generation.  Teenagers with this position tend to be difficult to handle because they always have a need to be seen and heard.  They may be rebellious when they do not get their way, which has the potential to cause a multitude of chaotic situations. They are a proud generation, and while they may make many changes, they may stuggle to change their own lives for the sake of mankind as a whole (and they may be resistant when others try to change them as well). They may not be etremely objective or reasonable and often times they think of ideas that may seem better in their minds than when actually applied. This generation may strongly affiliate themselves with their sun sign.

The upside to this generation of natives is they have the potential to make a long lasting impression on other generations that follow.  Because they know what the public wants, they know how to make causes and innovative ideas appealing to everyone.    In fact, they can be innovative in pretty much any field that can bring them attention! Public speaking, theater arts, even performing through song or dancing is where they will show their most innovative and original spirits.  They are proud of who they are, quirks and all. While they have a strong need to be recognized, they never have to worry about losing their sense of identity to causes or fading in the group (depending on their sun energy). This generation is highly creative. Inventions they create are capable of doing amazing things beyond our imagination because of their need to be impressive.  When they do fight for a cause, they make use of their creativity. Free will and free self expression are the causes they will fight for.

All natives that have Uranus in the 5th house (house of self-expression and amusement) may relate to this desription as individuals.  If the native has planets in Aqaurius or Scorpio, they may have more Uranian energy in their natal chart, and they may stand out as original people in their society.

If there are positive aspects to Uranus (especially to "inner" planets), planets in signs that the sun agrees with (sometimes Leo, and Aries); the sun is dignified by sign placement, or the sun/Uranus is accidentally dignified by house placement in a persons' natal chart, they may have more advantages when trying to gaing the benefits of this planet. (Uranus in the houses may affect natives on a more personal level).

Uranus crosses through all 12 signs of the zodiac. For the sake of this website, I have focused on the signs that Uranus may find comfortablity/uncomfortability.  However, through the dignities we can gain more understanding of the characteristics of both the planet and the signs individually. Remember Uranus usually lasts in each sign for an entire generation...therefore this energy can only be seen from an objective level.  Its house placement may give you more incite as to how this planet will manifest in your own lives.
