Neptune
And Its Dignities and Debilities
The planet Neptune is named after the god of the seas in Roman mythology (among the Greeks he was named Poseidon). He ruled over rivers and lakes before officially being deemed the god of all the seas. He was considered the creator of the chariot, and therefore he ruled over horse races (he is also considered the creator of horses). Believe it or not, Neptune was considered to be the universal father of ALL living beings on earth. According to the Greek tales, this was done by the fertilization of his rainwater. He is depicted in art with a trident in his hand, and is usually shown as the causer of disasters. Among the Romans, he was considered to have a violent temper...and he reflected this violent temper through violent storms and earthquakes. This is also why Neptune is considered the god of universal law, causing storms to those who disrespect him and his creatures. This is why he was also nicknamed the "earth shaker". (He was also referred to as the "King of the Deep"). He was one of the three sons of Saturn (who was the Roman equivalent of the Greek god Cronus). His brothers were Jupiter (Zeus) and Pluto (Hades). Each of them divided rulership over different parts of the world; Jupiter (Zeus) was god of the sky, Puto (Hades) was god of the underworld, while Neptune (Poseidon) had rulership over the seas.
While Neptune was a violent man, he had a romantic side and this was evident through his love of Salacia (the Greek equivalent was Amphitrite). She was a sea nymph and even though she refused Neptune's advances at first, he won her heart by sending a charming and persuasive dolphin to convince her to marry him. He was also considered to be enamoured by Medusa (the priestess in Minerva's temple) because of her beauty and charm, even when she was turned into a gorgon (this was said to inspire his attraction to snakes).
He had a very important holiday in his honor known as Nepturnalia. During this event, people would mostly honor the water around them. It was also a time when commitees, made up of Roman citizens, could vote on certain criminal or social cases. These festivals often took place during the summer seasons in order to appease Neptune so that they may have rain.
Many have often depicted Neptune interchangably with the merman Triton (who is one of Neptune's creations). This may be because of Triton's strong influence on the seas (and also because Triton is often described as a creature who carries a trident just like Neptune).
Astronomically, Neptune is considered an "ice giant" albeit smaller than Uranus. Netpune is considered scientifically the last visible "planet" in our solar system. Neptune is also one of the newly discovered planets. Neptune was particularly discovered in 1846. Neptune is capable of having massive storms similar to Jupiter (only Neptune's storms don't last as long). One of the most notable storms was noticed in 1989, in which a storm (the Great Dark Spot) was occuring for at least 5 years. Neptune, like most of the outer planets, has several rings that surround the planet which is made up of ice and dust. It has the most interesting moon in our solar system (known as Triton), and this is because it is the coldest object in our solar system (Neptune has 14 moons altogether). Just like Uranus, Neptune doesn't have a well-defined surface. Neptune is pretty mysterious in this way. Because of its mass, many considered this planet to be the third largest planet. As far as its diameter, however, it would technically be the fourth largest planet. Neptune is made up of hydrogen, helium, and methane. The planet neptune is a bluish color, which is said to be coming from the methane in the upper atmosphere. This methane absorbs the light from the sun and reflects the blue light from the sun, hence why it appears this way to us. Of course, this is also done with the mixture of another unidentified compound. This planet was initially going to be called "La Verrier", named after the discoverer of this planet. Of course, this name was discarded and instead the planet was named after the Roman god Neptune, because of its appearance to the sea. Neptune's rotatation period on its axis lasts for only 16-17 hours, which is a much faster rotation than on earth!
Astrologically, Neptune is the planet of Universal law and all the priniciples that are affiliated with it. Connection, widespread/ unconditional love, oneness, spiritual divinity, reflection, mercy, tranquility, and the freeness of mind...these are all universal priniciples and thus they are characteristics of Neptune. Yet, Neptune is also the planet of illusion, deceit, and idealism. Neptune is one of the newly discovered "planets" (the other two are Uranus and Pluto) astrologically. This planet is considered an "outer planet" both scientifically and astrologically. In astrology, the "outer planets" are planets that represent our need to experience/be apart of the world. (The other "outer planets" are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto in astrology). Neptune is also categorized as one of the "universal planets". These "universal planets" (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto) are representative of our need to free ourselves and connect with something greater than ourselves. After we have come to find our place in society through the social planets (Jupiter and Saturn), we then begin to find a way to connect with the universe at large through the "universal planets". Neptune is considered a generational planet, and it lasts throughout an entire generation per sign.
Neptune is the planet that represents our "inner" sanctuary. It is a planet that wants us to escape and free ourselves both physically and mentally. The universal laws of Neptune are in place in order for us to "release". By releasing the outer world as well as the mental world, we become more in tune with the spiritual world. It is also the planet representing our own vulnerabilities; the moment when we are ready to give ourselves up to a greater power. Neptune is also the planet of the dream world. In this way, Neptune has a strong connection with the moon ("planet" of emotions and dreams). The moon represents the "pathway" to our dreams...Neptune is the "map" of our dreams, showing us the manifestations (albeit distorted visions) of the "real" world as well as leading us throughout the dream world according to our needs at the time. The moon represents how often we need to rest and dream as well as our sleeping conditions; Neptune represents how long our sleep and dreams will last when we get the chance. This just goes to show you how strongly connected these two planets really are. Overall, Neptune represents all dreams that reflect both our inner and outer world. It will show our paranoias, pains, regrets, idealisms, longings, and aspirations. However, Neptune can also show images that are not very clear to us. Neptune may even decieve us into believing that the dream world is reality. Neptune is the planet of impressionability, representing the times we are more than likely to believe in things that may not seem logical to others. It is what we see that others around us may not see. This is also why Neptune represents mercy and forgiveness. When Neptune is involved, we tend to give others the "benefit of the doubt" even when someone does something wrong. We are sympathetic of situations and may overlook obvious "truths" for unseen "truths". This is also a quality of Neptune that is very much connected to the moon. The moon is a caring, nurturing energy that helps us understand our emotional weaknesses. It is a planet that also helps us understand the individual feelings of others. Neptune, however, goes beyond this understanding. Neptune is a planet that deeply connects with the energy/vibes of another, therefore Neptune can see an entire perspective and connects with these persepctives. It is the very energy that embraces its weakness and the weakness of others. Neptune is also connected to Venus (the planet of love). Neptune is considered the "higher octave" of Venus. This is because Venus and Neptune both represent the principles of love. However, Venus represents a more tangible/physical kind of love. Neptune represents universal, unconditional love with everyone. Venus is the planet that reveals how we show love and what kind love we would like to be shown to us; Neptune forms our general love ideals/principles and scenerios. Through this kind of "universal" love we find solace and "true" peace/serenity. While Venus represents those things we appreciate (because we enjoy it), Neptune is our deeper appreciations of the universe, where we can appreciate even those things we don't enjoy. With Venus, we only appreciate things when we have abundance; with Neptune we appreciate even when we have very little. Venus forms our desire for beauty; Neptune forms our ideals/principles of beauty. These are the qualities that make Neptune a much "higher" planet than Venus. Neptune is also the planet of sacrifice, particularly those sacrifices we make for the sake of keeping the "peace" in the world. It may not always be a physical sacrifice...it could be a mental one, a spiritual one, or an emotional one. Whatever we choose to sacrifice, its usually so we can create a better world for ourselves and others. Speaking of creation, Neptune is representative of our creative visions. These visions are usually channeled through artistic forms, especially through visual imagery. Movies, plays, television, paintings, and music are all artistic forms strongly connected to Neptune. However, in truth Neptune is the kind of world we would secretly like to live in and so we may seek to create this ideal world in the real world. Neptune represents our purest intentions. With Neptune, we only see purities, and we tend to deny or overlook imperfections. Anything (or anyone) that tries to shatter this idealism is categorized as "cruel". Neptune can also represent psychological disorders as well as addictions. Neptune's idealism can also be compared to the energy of Jupiter. They both work to inspire our spiritual sides, with Jupiter giving us faith in life and Neptune giving us hopeful relief. When Neptunian energy is strong in a person's chart, the generation of natives have an unspeakable imagination. They have deep sympathy for others and they may have big dreams for the world. This generation has a strong connection with anything spiritual and they can see things that others may not be able to see. They may have an unusual "oneness" with the world, and can understand the emotional vibes or situations of another. If Neptunian energy is too strong, there is deception and denial. They may struggle to see the difference between reality and a dream. They may be escapists who are always trying to run away from problems instead of facing them. They may be subject to victimization...even when they do something wrong. When Neptunian energy is blocked, there is a generation of people that feels disconnected with the universal/spiritual world. There is a struggle to escape both the physical and mental world, even when these natives desperately need this. They may have a tendency to try to find solace in chaotic situations, only to find disappointment. They may be the most delusional because they believe they are living in reality, even when they are not. They hardly ever get any sleep (even when they need it) and they may have a limited spiritual/imaginative connection to the world. This interferes with their ability to sympathize with people on an emotional level and they may be merciless when pursuing their aspirations. They may also be unaware of their vulnerabilities. Neptune is one of the hardest planets to define because of its intangible affiliations. Neptune lasts about 14 years in each sign in the zodiac.
The following descriptions represent possible dignities and debilities for this planet, according to modern astrologers. Neptune has always had the most contraversial ranking system, therefore I will be using ALL of the most common ranking theories for this planet.
Neptune in Pisces-The Fish of Neptune
Neptune+Pisces=SPIRITUAL ASPIRATIONS! Dignity (+5)
The symbol for Pisces in astrology is the fish. The fish have always been a symbol of spirituality. They have a connection with the "other world" on earth...and that world is the world of the deep sea. It is because these creatures live in such a mysterious world that Fish have been a symbol of something divine. Fish are a unique species because most of them do not have limbs. They use their gills and light bodies to propel them through the water. Many fish are capable of using bodily vibrations to "feel" their way around the water. This is how they detect predators and safe hiding places. This is also how they form schools or shoals amongst one another. An interesting fact is that fish do sleep...yet they do not have eyelids. Fish have periods where they go in a sleep-like state where they have reduced activity and a lower metabolism. While some fish stay alert even in a sleep like state, some fish like the Spanish Hogfish can sleep so hard they may float all the way to the surface before "awakening". (Researchers say when fish sleep it may be a function used to reset the brain circuits in order to retain more memory). There are also some fish that do not need sleep; yet there are fish that may need it but simply cannot sleep. As a result, these fish are capable of developing insomniac disorders. The more these fish lack sleep, the longer they will sleep when they get the chance. Fish are very vulnerable to their environment, yet highly adaptable. When in a fish tank they may go through periods of stress, indicating their stress by starving themselves. In the water, fish tend to have higher stress levels and may have a triggered response to run from situations. Fish can be found in any part of the ocean in the entire world.
Neptune is in domicile in the sign of Pisces, according to modern/progressive astrologers. Many traditional astrologers tend to stick to the original system where Pisces's sole ruler is Jupiter (planet of luck and expansion), therefore the original ranking system only has Jupiter as being in domicile in this sign. While I do agree that Jupiter is also one of the rulers of Pisces (as well as being in domicile in the sign of Pisces), I do believe that Neptune (the planet of dreams and connections) is also one of Pisces's ruling planets, and thus I believe Neptune is in domicile in this sign. (See my descriptions of Jupiter for more information). There are also many traditional astrologers that believe these planets cannot be ranked because they are representative of an entire generation, and thus cannot be defined. However, what must be understood is that astrological positions are not necessarily definite truths...otherwise we would never be able to make changes in our lives and have "free will". Rather, planetary positions are representative of possiblities. The ranking system is based upon the potential of planetary likeness and energy. These newly added planets are capable, in my opinion, of showing the same potential as all the other planets.
Neptune is the planet of aspirations, spiritual connections, oneness, sanctuary, illusions, and sympathy. Pisces is the sign of dreams, connection, compassion, spirituality, and creativity. In this sign, Neptune can connect with the spiritual world directly. There are many dreams characteristic of the sign of Pisces, and thus Neptune can aspire to be and do many things in the world. Neptune can achieve "oneness" through compassion and creativity within the sign of Pisces. The universe is seen from a divine perspective when Neptune is in Pisces.
This generation of natives are a group of dreamers and they yearn to connect with something spiritual in the world. They may be the most compassionate generation we ever encounter. They may have an unusual understanding of life, where there is no right or wrong; good or bad. They may be truly interested in the yin/yang principle where the world must have both forces in order to truly feel complete. They may see everyone as "equals"; in the sense that they see all of us as "innocent" victims of life. They may understand the universal principle of "oneness" where we are all affected by the same things in some way in this world. These natives may not necessarily be involved in humanitarian causes...instead they may make sacrifices of their own resources in order to keep the world in a peaceful state. Since Pisces is also ruled by Jupiter, they may be very charitable and generous towards others. They simply cannot handle the suffering of others. This is a generation that honors "true" peace and serenity. They may be interested in religious practices or any practice that allows them to release "inner" turmoil such as Yoga. They are visionaries and they use these "visions" as a means to be creative. Neptune in Pisces natives may appreciate all artistic forms, whether they make sense to others or not. Their imagination is truly vast. They may seek to create a world where everyone and everything is connected, and they may believe that the world is truly capable of goodness. Their artistic forms may have a twinge of the fantastical, where many things that are occuring may not seem possible in the real world. Artistic expressions of this generation may be inspired by their compassionate and perceptive energy. This is a generation that may be masters at the art of illusion (if used well, they can be quite the entertainers). This is a generation that goes with the flow and they never seem to sweat the small stuff. They may have an abstract, yet artistic view of "love", believing that love can come in all creative shapes and sizes. They may have dreams that reflect their hopes or regrets. These natives are very much capable of inspiring hope in the world because they are truly tolerant and believe in the world with all of their tender heart.
The downside to this position is that they may be a little too sensitive to their environment. They need more sleep than most. There may be many "blurred lines" where the native seems to be constantly living in a dream...almost to the point they cannot tell the difference between a dream and reality. In an evolved state, some of the natives of this generation can be highly creative, imaginative, and compassionate. In a less evolved state, some of the natives of this generation could be impressionable to any person (or advertisement) that can convince them to be against everything they once embraced. They have a tendency to think so great of people, that they leave themselves vulnerable to be hurt. These natives may constantly victimize themselves where they keep themselves in lower situations. This may not be intentional (or it may be intentional), but they may desperately want others to care for them in some way. They can be sacrificial to the point they have absolutely nothing left. Or they may hold on to things because it gives them a sense of "escape". This is an energy that represents strong addictions. They may be especially addicted to substances or visual media that takes them away from reality. This may also be a generation of many regrets, pains, or paranoias (how this energy may show itself in an individuals chart depends on their house placement). They may especially regret their own impressionability and in this regard they may be paranoid as well. This generation can range from being desparately hopeful to being completely hopeless. This may be a generation filled with depressed "souls". They may neglect reality and may not be capable of taking on responsibilities if they do not have good Saturn energy. This is a very unpredicatable energy that may yearn for peace, but may also confuse peace with chaos. This generation is learning the cosmic lesson to temper their escapist mentality. It is best if they do not sign up for something they haven't thoroughly thought about. They must learn to face the real world...that is the only way there will be true completion. They must avoid using addictive substances to solve their own problems. They must beware of those who do not have good intentions. They must avoid being manipulative. (Note: The following descriptions represent the possibilities of both modern generations and future generations. Who knows, perhaps future generations may find this information useful upon discovery :) ).
All natives with Neptune in the 12th house (house of hidden secrets and confusion) may relate to this description individually. If there are planets in the signs of Virgo, Capricorn, or Aquarius (especially from "inner" planets) this may tame their Naptunian energy. These natives may feel different from their peers, for better or worse.
If there are negative aspects to Neptune (especially from "inner" planets), or especilly if Neptune is accidentally debilitated by house placement, then the natives may have more setbacks when trying to gain the benefts of this planet. If Jupiter (Pisces other ruling planet) is debilitated, there may also be minor setbacks.

Neptune in Cancer-The Crabs of Neptune
Neptune+Cancer=Sentimental Aspirations! Dignity (+4)
Cancer's symbol is of the crab. Crabs are highly adaptable creatures that can live in various different parts of the world. Terrestial crabs are highly adaptable on land where they usually live in burrows or hidden places to hide from predators. Aquatic crabs are also extremely adaptable and some of them can travel all the way to the deepest part of the ocean. Most crabs rely on the water for oxygen, yet even Aquatic crabs can live on land for long periods of time so long as they keep their gills moist. This is also why they look for hidden yet moist places to "hide" in...this will help them retain the water. Surprisingly, Crabs do not have the best vision. Many times they use "chemoreception" which is very close to our sense of smell. (This chemoreception is found on the antennae and mouthpart of the crab). Aside from hiding as their means of protection, when traveling they may prefer to travel in numbers especially long distances. During these migrations, mating may also occur as well as the shedding of the skin. Crabs are the most vulnerable when shedding their skin, so it is imperative that they be protected in this state until their shell hardens. Crabs usually use their pincers to hold on to things or defend themselves.
Neptune is considered exalted in the sign of Cancer by some modern astrologers. This is a controversial dignity ranking because it has not been completely agreed upon by all astrologers. However, for the sake of my website, I will be focusing on ALL the most accepted dignified/debilitated positions according to astrologers. In this case, Neptune in Cancer is one of the most considered positons for an exaltation ranking by many astrologers. I also agree that this planetary position has one of the highest potentials for being ranked as an exaltation.
Neptune is the planet of aspirations, spirituality, oneness/connections, imagination, sanctuary, and compassion. Cancer is the sign of emotional attachment, home, protection, support, care/nurture, and growth. In this sign, Neptune can find sanctuary through a place it calls "home". There is much support for all of Neptune's aspirations in the sign of Cancer as well. Oneness is achieved through familial connections. Cancer is ruled by the moon, the planet of emotions and dreams. Neptune can grow from Cancer's imagination. Neptune can channel the energy of compassion through the nurturing and supporting energy of Cancer. While most modern astrologers do not consider Neptune to be in domicile in this sign (because Neptune is less "defined" than the sign of Cancer and more abstract), there are several modern astrologers that believe there is a strong possibility for a lot of energy coming from the planet in this sign. Neptune can obviously do more and go beyond its own abilities in the sign of Cancer.
This generation of natives are highly sentimental. They may have pure feelings towards others that honestly could never be truly "deceptive". They are empathetic when it comes to others, especially those that they have strong emotional connections to. For them, they are looking for more than universal love; they want to live among a universal family. This is especially so if individual natives with this position do not have strong family ties with blood relatives. They may give family members the benefit of the doubt and will appreciate even the imperfections in their family members. Their home is their haven and with a place to call home they feel safe. They are moved by the emotions of those around them. They may have a need to sacrifice their own feelings/families in order to be supportive/protective of the feelings/family of another. In this way, they are the world's "surrogate mother/father". These natives may want to connect with their past in some way. These natives may be attracted to other-worldly connections that are triggered from the past. They may have a fascination with past spirits, such as ghosts or apparitions. Many natives of this generation have been assumed to have psychic abilities. They may seem to have a magical "fairy godmotherly/fatherly" energy that simply comes from the feeling of wanting to support others. They are highly nostalgic and they may reflect on the good times they've experienced in the past, rather than the bad times. This generation is extremely creative because they draw inspiration from their own feelings and emotions. This makes them relatable to various different people. They are masters in the art of manipulation and they may be excellent when it comes to visual art or performances because of their ability to influence the feelings of others. They are usually an excellent generation of actors. This generation may see love as a personal feeling that should be shared. They tend to dream (or have nightmares) mostly about the past, as well as family members.
The downside to this position is that there is an irrational energy added with denial. This generation of natives may struggle to accept the reality of situations. Instead, they would rather trust their "gut instincts" no matter how illogical or unreasonable they are. This is probably the most decieving quality of these natives. They are the most vulnerable to their families and/or their nations. They may suffer for the sake of their "family unit", even when their own "family unit" may not care for them as much. This makes them an easy target to take advantage of. Cancer is ruled by the moon, which is the planet of emotions, memory, and dreams. They tend to be so nostalgic, that they may overlook past issues and end up in the same destructive situations as before. They tend to live for their dreams, which also leaves them with many regrets and disapppointments. They tend to see things from their own perspectives and may feel that everyone feels (or should feel) the way they do. Their emotions influence their addictions. This generation of natives may be the most vulnerable to dangerous drugs such as alcohol or drugs. They may also be overindulgent in food when trying to escape their sadnesses. These natives also tend to be very reliant on their families to get them out of bad situations. Their cosmic lesson as a generation is to learn to see life outside of their emotions. They must learn to set familial boundaries. Blood is not always thicker. They must also beware of using supportive or caring energy to manipulate others. Men with this position must avoid being manipulated by women. (Note: This is a description representing the possibilities of both modern generations and future generations. Who knows, perhaps future generations may find this information useful upon discovery :) ).
All natives with Neptune in the 4th house (house of family and home) may relate to this description. If there are planets in Virgo, Capricorn, or Aquarius (especially from "inner" planets), Neptunian energy may be tamed in an individuals chart. They may feel different from others in their generation for better or worse.
If there are negative aspects to Neptune (especially from the "inner" planets), planets in signs that the moon does not agree with (Capricorn, Scorpio), the moon is debilitated by sign placement, or the moon/Neptune is accidentally debilitated by house placement, the native with this position may have more setbacks as an individual when trying to gain the benefits of this planet.

Neptune in Leo-The Lions of Neptune
Neptune+Leo=Glamorous Aspirations! Dignity (+4)
The Lion is one of the most majestic animals of the wild. They are known for their proud roar, as well as the beautiful mane on the head of the male lions. People may also be familiar with their hunting abilities. They are very creative in their hunting tactics and they adapt their style to match their prey. They are considered to be masters at the art of manipulation, especially when hunting or protecting themselves and the pride. They have really good night vision because of their strong sensitivity to moonlight.
While the lion is most known for its ferocious qualities, many do not know that the lion actually rests for 20 hours throughout the day. They tend to be creatures who enjoy sleep and affection. They are very playful and can amuse themselves for hours. They mostly protect the pride (and themselves) by "marking" their territory (most times the male lion will use its mane to do this). Lions have shown that can truly pull together with one another when times get hard. Lionesses tend to be very protective mothers. They have shown to have a strong compassion towards little cubs, even to the point of nursing a neglected cub so that it could have a chance to live. They have also shown to take the loss of cubs very hard. In some instanes they will adopt another "cub" in its place (and sometimes this "cub" may not be of the same species). Lions have always been a symbol of royalty and dignity, as well as strength.
While some modern astrologers believe Neptune to be exalted in the sign of Cancer, another sign that astrologers have been considering for the exaltation of Neptune is Leo. Yet, many others may feel that this can not be possible because Neptune is so different from Leo. However, one must understand that the ranking for an exaltation is mostly distinguished by "effectiveness" not likeness (the domicile is a ranking placement based on likeness). From my observation of the planetary characteristics as well as the sign's characteristics, I believe that this exaltation is possible.
I know many may wonder which sign I officially feel is the most dignified for Neptune. What must be understood is that on this website I focus on possibilities. If I see there is a possibility for one (or two), then I will take them into consideration when focusing on Neptune and its most comfortable position. In fact, I do believe in some cases it is possible for a planet to have more than one exaltated position by sign. After all, planets have been able to be in domicile in two signs, right?
Of course, this is another topic for a different section of my website (see my homepage on Dignities/Debilities for more information).
Neptune is the planet of aspirations, spirituality, oneness, sanctuary, creative inspiration, imagination, and compassion. Leo is the sign of pride, drama, self-expression, generosity, romance, youth, and creation. It is ruled by the sun..the planet of self and self-expression. In the sign of Leo, Neptune is now directing its creative inspiration towards self expression. Imaginaton is enheightened through the dramatic sign of Leo. Compassion is shown in generous, heroic, and creative ways, especially towards children. There is universal oneness mixed with an air of romance. There is sanctuary found through its own creations. Neptune's need for spirituality comes from within the pride and willpower of the self when in the sign of Leo. In this sign, Neptune has a lot of energy and can do more in this sign than it could with its own energies.
The generation with Neptune in Leo are highly dramatic and idealistic. They love to express themselves; this is how they free their minds and body from everyday problems. Amusements are their "sanctuary". They want to have a good time and they want others to enjoy life as well. They may see the world as a giant playground, where everyone should be able to have fun all day long. They may want to create their own "Neverland" where people never grow up and there are always adventures. They love to perform for others, and will sacrifice their own ego for the sake of taking people away from their troubles for a while. They are heroic in spirit. Unlike most planets in Leo, these natives may not mind being "the clown" if it means brightening up someone's day. They simply want to give a good show for others and create a dream that all people would want to run to. They are especially concerned with children. This generation has a strong compassion towards children and they may want make them laugh and believe in "magic". This generation makes excellent actors/performers because they have strong self-expression. They may also make fantastic magicians because they are great performers and good at the art of manipulation. They may see love as something that is glamorous and something to be enjoyed by everyone. They may also see love as apart of their own self-expression. They have a big imagination and they believe that the impossible is possible. This generation may believe in the spiritual powers of the will. Even in bad times, they draw from their own spirituality and are proud of their hopes and dreams. They may believe that divine forces want them to be happy, whether it be a god or some other spiritual force. They may believe they are capable of being a "god" (or that everyone can be "gods") because they believe that anyone can do whatever they wish if they just believe. They embrace their weaknesses and may even see them as a strength to their character. They may have a tendency to have dreams (or nightmares) about fame, amusements, and glamor.
The downside to this position is that they tend to live in their own world. They believe in themselves so much, that they tend to ignore their own flaws. This can cause many disappointments in the long run with their own ego. While they seem to enjoy life, they may be the most depressed souls because of their dramatic understanding of situations. While many of these natives see themselves as "beautiful", there are many that may see themselves as the worst people in the world. They may give up their very lives for the sake of their dreams. They could be suicidal if disappointed with their lives. They tend to amuse themselves for hours, sometimes to the point of neglecting their own responsibilities for the sake of having fun. The most evolved natives of this generation may understand the will of themselves/others and they may seek to encourage its self-expression. However, the Less evolved natives of this generation may be so self-absorbed that they don't realize how those around them are actually feeling. They tend to be vulnerable to flattery and may get caught up in a world full of glamour only to be destroyed. This generation is learning the cosmic lesson that they must be aware of the real world around them (outside of their own ego). They must set limits for themselves when it comes to amusements...otherwise the very things they love could be their own undoing. Confidence is good...but no one is as invincible as they may believe. They must understand their own limitations as a human being. This will help them to avoid having a self-defeating attitude when they cannot do the impossible. They must avoid amusing themselves through dangerous habits such as gambling, drinking too much alcohol, or getting involved in dangerous drugs. They may need to sleep to preserve their emotional energy.
All natives with Neptune in the 5th house (house of amusements and self-expression) may relate to this description individually. If there are planets in signs such as Virgo, Capricorn, or Aquarius (especially from the "inner" planets) in a natives natal chart, their neptunian energy may be tamed. They may feel different from those in their generation for better or for worse.
If there are negative aspects to Neptune/the sun (especially from "inner" planets), planets in signs that the sun does not agree with (Libra, Aquarius); the sun is debilitated by sign placement, or the sun/Neptune is accidentally debilitated by house placement, there may be more setbacks when trying to gain the benefits of this planet.
Neptune in Aquarius-The Water Bearers of Neptune
Neptune+Aquarius=Rebellious Aspirations Debility (-4)
The sign of Aquarius is refered to as the "water-bearer" . The story behind this sign is about a young youth (Ganymede) who was "taken" by Zeus to be a cup-bearer to the gods. He eventually rebelled, pouring out all the drinks of the gods and causing massive rains. While this event more than likely displeased the gods, this was considered a good day for humanity because now for the first time they would have rainwater. This was more than a story symbolizing a cup-bearer...in fact this story was meant to symbolize the beginning of the greatest water-bearer: the clouds in our sky. This is why the sign of Aquarius has been affiliated with lightning, electricity, and spontaniety...all the characteristics of a surrounding storm.
There are many different types of clouds that have been identified. However, they tend to be classified in two distinct categories. Stratus clouds are thinner looking clouds. They have the potential to spread across the sky and cover the sunlight completely. They also have the potential to shift to lower levels creating a mist or fog. While these clouds do produce percipitation (rain, snow, etc), they do not usually cause dangerous storms. Cumulonimbus clouds are very different from the stratus clouds. In their tame state, they are the most beautiful clouds because of their various shapes and sizes. However, when these clouds have gathered enough moisture, the precipitation they produce has the potential to create dangerous storms.
Some astrologers believe that Neptune is falling in Aquarius. From my observations, I believe that Neptune could possibly be uncomfortable in this sign. Let me start by explaining the characteristics of Neptune, as well as the characteristics of the sign of Aquarius. Neptune is the planet of illusion, aspirations, spirituality, oneness/connection, sanctuary, serenity, imagination, compassion, and creative inspiration. Aquarius is the sign of genius, spontaneity/chaos, rebellion, aloofness, objectivity, truth, and humanitarianism. This would mean that Neptune is weak and needs additional help from outsiders. Neptune seeks to connect with others and become "one" with others on an emotional level (which usually inspires compassion). Aquarius, however, is a sign of aloofness which may cause Neptune to feel more disconnection from others on a deeper level. Sanctuary and serenity cannot seem to be found amidst the spontaneity and the chaos of Aquarius. Neptune's need to follow the "universal laws" are met with rebellion. In such an objective sign where facts and logic are the only acceptation, spiritual divinity is lost. The native will feel a conflict between their desire for objectivity, yet their desire for dreams. Neptune is not necessarily "blocked" like it would be in a detriment state. After all, Aquarius is a sign of Utopian ideals and humanitarianism which means even though Neptune and Aquarius have differences, dreams can still be achieved if the aloofness and spontaneous need for chaos can be tempered.
Natives of this generation may dream of a better world where everyone is happy and safe. However, there may be several characteristics of these natives that may seem to get in the way. One issue could be that they tend to ignore their own need for happiness in the world. They may have a tendency to focus so much on causes and progress that they don't seem to concern themselves with their own personal feelings. As a result, they may feel disconnected from others, even in their attempt to connect with others. They may never feel truly "free" because they may refuse to let go of their mind and open up their heart. This may be because they are trying to escape a very deep part of themselves...their emotions. They may sacrifice their own feelings for the sake of freedom. On the contrary, they may sacrifice all logic and freedom for the sake of belonging especially when it comes to their friends/associates or organizations. Another issue that may be holding back their potential for peace is their need for chaos. Aquarius is a sign of rebellion. It is ruled by the planet Uranus, the planet of revolution/rebellion as well as change. Even when natives of this generation attempt to establish peace and serenity in the world, they lose themselves in the chaos. They tend to think very idealistically about rebellious ideals and this can be really destructive. They sometimes seem hard to impress and they are easily dissatisfied with their life, constantly ready for a new life or change. Sadly, because they ignore (or are unaware of) the emotional vibes around them, they may not often see when their ideals have been a result of brainwash or manipulation. Their idealism may also cause them to confuse chaos with true peace and serenity. Natives of this generation may have many Utopian dreams, which means they do believe in a perfect world. They may believe that progress is possible and may hold on to this hope. Yet, this is a generation that relies on logic and facts to determine what is possible. This is why it may be hard for them to connect to their own spirituality. They may struggle to believe in things that cannot be reasonably explained, which tends to limit their imagination. This might make it difficult for them to find relief and satisfaction inside as well. Escaping may be hard for them to do on their own, making them reliant on others to get them out of situations. This generation is learning the cosmic lesson to open their hearts and release their minds. While this may seem like a bad thing to do, by doing this they may truly be able to see the "truth" when the heart is open. There is a difference between chaos and peace. This is why when they are mixed, peace will be difficult to achieve. Remember what your true ideal is...for humanity to live in a more peaceful and accepting world. This generation may have a tendency to see "love" as a nonexistent/illogical part of life. They may be easily influenced by technology.
The upside to this position is that they are humanitarians. They may truly want to make a more accepting and free world where mankind is constantly progressing. This may seem to be an impossible aspiration to achieve to some. But this is a generation that more than likely longs to make a difference and are willing to make sacrifices in order for this dream to be achieved. This is a generation that knows when to let go of their own feelings and disconnect in order to achieve greater purposes. And because this is a logical energy, they may be more reasonable when it comes to their aspirations. While the less evolved may not be aware of their vulnerability to manipulators, the more evolved may not be as easily fooled by manipulators compared to other generations because of their need for "truth". Their artistic expressions may be inspired from their need to make changes and progress human society. They could be fantastic inventors, able to make the impossible possible. In this way, they are "wizards" when it comes to science and invention. They may also be inspired from their own technological advancements to create new artistic mediums. "New age" art and music is what they may be aiming to achieve. They may also be involved in religious reform. While the less evolved of this generation may see "love" as nonexistent, the more evolved will see that love can create a more accepting world among humanity. They may believe that the love among friends or comrades is the best kind of love one can have. This is a generation that truly feels compassion for the outcasts in society, and may feel they connect more with those who are misunderstood. They may be considered "universal" friends that are willing to accept anyone regardless of their orientation or background. They may dream (or have nightmares) mostly about their associates or of their progressive aspirations. They may have dreams (nightmares) that are changeable and hard to understand.
Natives with Neptune in the 11th house (house of friendships and associations) may relate to this description on an individual level. If there are planets in signs such as Pisces, Cancer, or Leo, (especially "inner" planets) they may have more Neptunian energy. They may feel "different" from those of their generation, for better or worse.
If there are positive aspects to Neptune (especially from "inner" planets), planets in signs that Uranus/Saturn agrees with (more Aquarius, Capricorn, Libra, or Scorpio); Uranus/Saturn are dignified by sign placement, or Uranus/Saturn/Neptune are acidentally dignified by house placement in the natal chart, these natives may find advantages when trying to gain the benefits of this planet.

Neptune in Capricorn-The Goats of Neptune
Neptune+Capricorn=Ambitious Aspirations Debility (-4)
Capricorn is known as the goat or the "sea goat" in astrology. The idea behind the sea-goat is more related to the "four legged" goat in more ways than most people may think. The first sea-goat was Pricus, who was considered not only the father of the sea goat but the father of ALL goats. According to Greek legends, at one time all goats originated from the sea, but eventually abandoned the seas to become the four-legged animals we know of today. Pricus remained the last remaining sea-goat, which is why his symbol is the image that represents the sign Capricorn. This story is also symbolic of the characteristics of the goat's ability to climb the highest mountain and/or swim to depths of the sea.
Goats are considered ambitious creatures. They are said to be able to unlatch gates on a farm and even climb trees when they really want something. They may even dig under fences! Goats will do whatever it takes to get what they want. One amazing ability that some goat species have is the ability to climb up vertical dams. These goats are known as the Alpine Ibex goats, and they almost seem to have the ability to "defy gravity" as their make their way up vertical walls without faltering. One theory about goats is that they hardly ever sleep. Whether this is true or not is still left for speculation. One thing is for certain, they are always alert when it comes to their surrounding environment. The goat has sometimes been a symbol for "the devil".
Neptune is considered falling in the sign of Capricorn by some astrologers. I do feel this is also a very interesting possibility. Neptune is the planet of aspirations, illusion, imagination, sanctuary, serenity, spirituality, oneness, and compassion. Capricorn is the sign of ambition, obstacles, maturity, social success, organization, responsibility, respect, pessimism, and realism. Because the sign of Capricorn is a highly realistic sign, Neptune may obviously struggle to express as freely here because Neptune is a planet of compassion and dreams. The native desires to be realistic and gain personal recognition. Yet the native also has a compassionate and dreamy side. This causes a conflict of desires within the native. Neptune may struggle to connect with the spiritual realm because this is limited by Capricorn's need for social success. There seems to be no escape for Neptune because of Capricorn's dutiful and responsible nature, as well as its need for obstacles. Most modern astrologers do not consider Neptune in detriment in this sign because Neptune and Capricorn both have aspirations they want to achieve. If the pessimistic and hard-nosed qualities of the sign of Capricorn can be tempered, Neptunian dreams are possible to achieve.
This generation of natives are highly ambitious in nature. They long for something tangible. They may dream of having fame, fortune, and respect in the world. Unfortunately, they tend to ignore the spiritual parts of their life. In fact, they may only believe in things that are realistic. They may only take on religious affiliations if this can guarentee them fame, respect, or anything that is tangible/useful for the real world. Because of the lack of spirituality from this energy, this could represent a generation that is truly hopless. They may feel that life is very hard, with no way out of all the hardships they have to endure. They may feel that their life will be better if they had fame and money so that they never have to deal with hardships ever again. However, when they do reach their aspirations they may feel that they have only gained more responsibilities rather than less. They hardly ever seem satisfied with their situations in life. They tend to be gullible when it comes to business deals, and may sign themselves away to business or political officials that want to take advantage of them. They may get so caught up in this world, that they neglect those who are at the bottom, especially those close to them. They tend to set aside their own feelings as well as the feelings of others, all for the sake of ambition. They may even be manipulative towards those they "connect" with in order to secretly gain benefits. This generation is learning the cosmic lesson that in order to be truly satisfied with life, they must get in tune with their emotional and spiritual sides. They may benefit more from using their fame and fortune for helping those less fortunate than they are. This will always give them more satisfaction and they may even begin to feel a connection with those who seek to rise above their situations as well. They will eventually see that fame and fortune means nothing if they do not have anyone to share it with. They may have a tendency to see "love" as something that hinders success. They may have moments of interrupted sleep and thus dreams may be interrupted.
The upside to this energy is that the generation of natives have strong aspirations and may be the most determined to make their dreams come true. After all, Capricorn is the sign of aspirations! And because they are practical, they know how to make their dreams come true in the real world. In the less evolved state they may be easily manipulated by businesses and politicians. In their evolved state, however, they may be masters at manipulating the manipulators. Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, the planet of order, discipline, and duties. Along with a need to succeed, they have a strong sense of responsibility and duty. They are willing to sacrifice all their time and pleasures for achievement. Unlike other Neptunian natives, they don't want to run from their problems...they would rather work to have true physical saftey and security. While this type of security comes with a lot of hard work and obstacles at first, in the long run they may have security that lasts a long time. If they are an evolved Neptune in Capricorn native, they may make the most compassionate politicians and business owners in history. This is because while they are not extremely spiritual, they do believe in karma (whatever you give, you will get). They are impressed by people who work hard to follow their dreams, especially when they succeed. This generation is good at creating art with a sense of realism. They know how to capture the real world in a relatable way through imagery. They may use their business skills as artistic mediums. They tend to be conservative, and may draw musical inspiration from respected times in musical history. They may also draw musical inspiration from their own ambitions. While they see love as something that can be a hinderance to success, they may truly believe that love is something that a person must work hard to maintain. They may be willing to make many sacrifices in order to have stable relationships. This generation may have a "psychic power" all their own, where they almost seem to predict the future. This is because they are usually very sensitive to time. They may grow to be more spiritual people with age. They may have dreams (or nightmares) about their future, their career, or some sort of prestige.
Natives with Neptune in the 10th house (house of career and prestige) may relate to this description. If a native has planets in signs such as Pisces, Cancer, or Leo they may have more Neptunian energy to draw from.
If there are positive aspects to Neptune (especially from "inner" planets), planets in signs that Saturn agrees with (Capricorn, Aquarius, Libra), Saturn is dignified by sign position, or Saturn/Neptune is accidentally dignified by house position in the natal chart, the natives may find more advantages when trying to gain benefits of the planet.

Neptune in Virgo-The Virgans of Neptune
Neptune+Virgo=practical aspirations Debility (-5)
The sign of Virgo is a sign representing a double-bodied figure, that was half woman and half bird. The figure is based off a perfect woman named Dike, who once lived in a perfect human world. When the world started becoming a more "imperfect" world, Dike spread her wings and flew away into the heavens where she became the constellation Virgo.
Birds are representative of purity and divinity in many cultures. This is because of their connection with the sky, which is the closest place to "heaven". They have always been portrayed as messengers, whether for the living...or the dead.
Birds are usually concerned about their survival. While they normally stay near their "nests", they are usually willing to relocate to much safer territories if the need to. Birds have a built-in biological clock, where they determine promptly when to get up and go looking for food. In fact, this biological clock could also influence their memory, their learning habits, seasonal reproduction, as well as their navigation. While there are a variety of different birds with various habits and communication styles, they are social creatures that understand their environment by communicating.
Neptune is considered in detriment in the sign of Virgo according to modern astrologers. Neptune is the planet of illusion, aspirations, sanctuary, imagination, creative inspiration, purity, compassion, serenity, oneness, and spirituality. Virgo is the sign of analysis, criticism, discernment, practicality, service, and ultimately perfection. In the sign of Virgo, Neptune will struggle to express its energies without obstacles. Neptune will struggle to find solace in a sign that is critical like Virgo. It is hard to create oneness in a sign that is so discriminating as this one. Imagination is also stifled behind Virgo's analytical and practical characteristics. Overall, purity of the soul is distorted by the need for perfection.
This is a generation that may find it hard to hold on to hopes and dreams. They may want to escape the pressures of the world and find true serenity. Unfortunately, they may also want to work hard to overcome their problems, possibly because waiting for a change is nerve-wracking. They may have big dreams and they may want to create a "perfect" world where everyone is righteous or everything seems to fall into place. Yet, they are so practical it is difficult for them to see their visions coming true. They may only believe in things they can see with their own eyes. This may be a generation that may want to open their minds and be creative, however they would rather create something more useful for the real world. This may be a generation of natives that will have a conflict of desires in life when it comes to their dreams. This may be a generation that never seems to rest or sleep. They may have dreams that are more practical or achievable than other generations. They may feel that the world can never be truly safe unless they work hard to "fix it". These natives may be work-a-holics, constantly slaving so that they may find solace. They may simply be trying to escape deep regrets and pains through work. They may feel deep guilt and regret when they do not serve others. They are highly critical and so disappointments happen more often for them. They may be deeply unsatisfied with the world to the point they suffer from deep depression and stress. This generation will more than likely be vulnerable to the real world as a result, taking on any job that will guarentee escape from the world of hardship. There may be times when they cannot discern the real world from the dream world. When they dream, they can never seem to escape reality and yet when they are in reality they may feel like they are in a walking dream. Their need for perfection can make them hard on others around them. This can cause emotional disconnection in their relationships. Ironically, as critical as they are, they may be very sensitive to the criticisms of others. They may suffer in silence, sacrificing their own personal feelings for the sake of perfection. They may also sacrifice perfection and hard work, for the sake of isolation from the outside world. They have a tendency to ignore their emotional weaknesses, which may also cause them to feel isolated from others. Regardless, this generation will make many sacrifices that could be damaging in the long run. They may have moments when they do not dream at all when sleeping.
The upside to this generation is that they are highly practical. They are probably the most realistic group of natives in history. They never set their dreams too high, so in the long run they are more prepared for disappointments. The more evolved natives of this generation will be more easily satisfied with their life and won't expect more than what life has already offered them. While others may see them as the types that settle for less, these natives can also be seen as an appreciative generation of people who knows what it means to live with very little. This is a sensible generation, that doesn't believe in waiting around for someone to save them. They want to work and serve in order to earn whatever they gain in life. The more evolved natives of this generation may be less susceptible to pitying themselves. They work to "fix" whatever flaws they have and they try not to let their weaknesses hold them back. Creatively, this generation usually creates art that sends messages of encouragement to others. They would rather create something useful or practical for the world. They may also create art that shows the "beauty" in simplicity. Their principles on love are very practical. Thay may see love as something that should be virtuous or "perfect". In fact, they may seek to create an entire world that is virtuous and clean. They seem to put a little bit of "magic" in their crafts, because they always believe that anything can be used or "fixed". Surprisingly, they may be expert magicians because of their precision and accuracy. They may have dreams (or nightmares) about the everyday world around them, particularly their daily tasks.
Natives with Neptune in the 6th house (house of service and health) may relate to this description. If there are planets in signs such as Pisces, Cancer, or Leo in the natal chart (especially "inner" planets), they may have more Neptunian energy.
If there are positive aspects to Neptune (especially from "inner" planets), planets in signs that Mercury agrees with (Virgo, Gemini, Aquarius), Mercury is dignified by sign, or Mercury/Neptune is accidentally dignified by house placement in the natal chart, you may have more advantages when rying to gain the benefits of Neptune.
