When it comes to dignities and debilities, each planet's place in this system has always been quite controversial. Dignities usually represent a situation in which the planet is in a comfortable position, therefore the natives with dignified position will express more naturally causing them to gain more benefits. Debilities usually represent a situation in which the planet is not in a comfortable position, therefore the natives with this position will be uncomfortable expressing themselves naturally causing barriers. This understanding of the planets has been avoided by some astrologers because it assumes that other natives will be more "priviledged" than others.
In my honest opinion, dignities and debilities have proven to be useful when examining a person's situation in life. While natives with debilities can overcome it (and dignities may come with some consequences if not handled properly), there are certain energies that seem to work better with certain planets while others do not.
The most important thing to consider when it comes to this ranking system is that the nature of each expression will take differing forms according to culture and especially according to gender/sex. In our society, women and men experience very different things and are treated in different ways. Therefore, our understanding of "dignity" or "debility" is altered according our gender/sexual experience. With certain planets especially, the understanding of this ranking alters according to how feminine/masculine a planet is viewed in society. Therefore, in the following descriptions I will be explaining the differences between men/boys VS women/girls when it comes to the masculine/feminine planets, and how they may express themselves differently in the modern world.
Dignities & Debilites of the Sun: Men VS Women
The sun is the luminary of the ego and pride. Naturally, this planet gives us the urge to want to shine and be important. The sun has always been affiliated with manhood and our view of men in general, as men tend to express their pride and ego more often (while in relationships women tend to affiliate this pride and ego with men and manhood). Of course, all of us have a sun sign and sun position in the natal chart (along with various planetary aspects). However, the nature of our sun and its expression, will reflect different things according to our sex/gender. While women can be just as proud of themselves as men, they may feel more uncomfortable showing this side of themselves. This is especially so in personal relationships because of social shaming and unacceptance of this dominance from women. Therefore, women will seek to be more humble in their nature/expression of the sun energy in order to be more acceptable to others. The pride of a man has come to be a mark of manhood and is much more acceptable. In this instance, the man may assume the role as "Father" while the females may assume the role as "child" in personal relationships because of her lack of inner confidence and her need for encouragement.

Men: Sun in Leo men have the most dignified position of the sun. This means these natives have natural sun like qualities/abilities, thus they will express themselves more naturally. They are quite proud of themselves and expect to be the leaders of every situation, especially when it comes to their families. They are all about character and dignity, so they never do anything that would make them look bad in front of others. The men of this position may believe that a man (not a woman) must always be the leader, and they may not want partners that try to take over or dominate. They also represent a group of natives that do not seem to handle sun energy well. Naturally, the females of this position may not seem as weak-willed as the males of this position. In fact, they seem to dominate in social situations and they usually seem like the life of every party. However, the female natives of this position struggle in leadership positions because they are either too easygoing or unsure without others. Females of this position tend to feel lonely without others in their life, so they may always be found hanging with someone. The moon holds all of our emotional insecurities, making it one of the most vulnerable "planets" in astrology (along with Neptune). Because of the nurturing/caring characteristic of this luminary, it has been affiliated with womanhood and our view of women in general. Most women can identify with their more caring/sensitive energies, despite the sub-conscious needs representative of this planet. Most men will deny or be more unaware of their caring/sensitive energies. Instead, they may project these energies on the women around them, affiliating caring and emotional energies with women/womanhood. Yet, we all have a moon sign and the moon also has positions in each of our natal charts (along with planetary aspects). Men do have caring/sensitive energies, but because of social shaming during the child rearing years, they will be more uncomfortable showing these energies. This means the male will have needs he expects to be fulfilled by the women in his life instead, expecting her to play the role as nurturer and supporter. The women will naturally play the role of nurturer and supporter more comfortably. In this case, she will take the role as "mother" while he takes the role of a "baby", because of his lack of emotional understanding and for his need of support.

Women: Women of this position represent the moon in its most dignified position, reflecting natives that have natural moon-like qualities. Thus, they will express these energies naturally. Naturally, this planet has always been affiliated with masculinity, as Mars's virtues are more readily embraced by men than they are by women. Women may instead expect men to present this sort of energy in order to be impressive as a man (the energy women may not feel as comfortable releasing from inside themselves). While the sun has come to represent manhood and men in the general sense, Mars has come to represent manhood at its strongest and most admirable stage. Therefore, Mars is often our vision of the best kind of man. Despite the fact that both genders have a Mars sign and position in the natal chart, the way women may experience Mars in her life will be different from the way men will experience it. Naturally, women and men have different expectations when it comes to action, energy, passion, and especially sexuality. Therefore, their approach will be different from one another according to social expectations.

They respect those who are wiser than they are. They may hardly ever feel satisfied with their station in life, no matter how successful they are. Women: Women with this position are just as ambitious as their male counterparts. They want to succeed in life and they work hard to do so.
