Sun & The Theater

In Roman and Greek mythology the sun was represented by two gods: Apollo and Sol (Helios in Greek).  Apollo was the God of art and performance, as well as the god of light and the sun.  Sol (Helios) was considered the very personification of the sun. He was a titan who drove a chariot carrying the sun across the world. His sister was was Luna (Selene), titan personification of the moon.

The sun is possibly one of the most popular and well known luminaries in astrology.  Every one in their lifetime at least once has been ask "what's your sign", right?  In most cases the sign being referred to is the sun sign.  Even though astronomically it is not a planet, astrologically it functions much like all the other planets with its own representation.  The sun represents  our ego, sense of self/self expression, animation, importance, recognition/attention, pride, confidence, presentation, and leadership.  Whatever sign its in (or whatever house placement it has) it will show us where our identity lies.  This is why most people identify with their sun sign more than any other placement.  To add, it is the easiest to identify because the sun sign can easily be found simply by looking at your birthday in most cases.

So, how does the sun influence the world of acting?  Its very simple.  With the sun being the "planet" of recognition, self-expression, animation, and presentation it is the very planet that gives stage presence and the ability to animate ourselves.  With the sun we exaggerate, just as we do in the theater.  Not to mention it also represents our leadership abilities, which could be very evident in our abilities to direct. This is why I have chosen to focus on the sun and its influence on acting over everything else.

This is not to say that all the other planets do not have an influence on our acting/directing choices or abilities.  In fact, when the sun aspects other planets, the interest in acting may become even stronger and may reflect in us special abilities that we wouldn't otherwise have. Planetary aspects on a natal chart show the relationship the planets in astrology have with each other.  These aspects are usually formed based off the calculations of their degree and their distance from each other.

When a planet is conjunct they are usually extremely close to each other.  This would mean that the native has two planets that represents equivalent desires thus these natives may be able to satisfy their desires through more than one channel.  When planets form a trine or sextile this means energies that work well with each other, thus the native will have a smooth time getting what they want in more than one area of their life. When planets form an opposition or square, this means the native will have struggles getting what they desire in more than one area of their life.  If the native has an inconjunct/quincunx this would mean that the native has energies that have nothing in common and thus they do not benefit from each other in anyway causing the native to feel constantly dissatisfied.  The position of other planets in your natal chart can be found by observing a birth chart below.
