Virgo's Mode: Mutable, mode of adaptability and communication.

Sports Challenge

Mars in Virgo natives are quite curious when it comes to sports and will usually consider a variety of different kinds of sports.  However, they are not the types to jump into a sport just out of curiosity.  They are more practical than that! They usually do extensive research on a sport before even trying out for it.  They have standards to consider, such as financial benefits, stability, and their own efficiency.  These natives are more than likely to take on challenges when these standards are met. These natives need to be very clear about the rules of a game.  They like to be efficient and precise with everything they do, therefore if the rules of the game are not made clear (or is controversial) they will be more reluctant. These natives are quite mental.  They may be interested in challenges that intrigue their minds like a puzzle.  The harder the challenge is for them, the more fascinated they are.  These natives need good coaches in order to feel like sufficient players.  Baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, and even golf may be excellent sports for them where precision is very important.

Competitive Energy

These natives are all about efficiency and precision, as stated before.  These natives work very hard to be efficient athletes, training harder than any athlete one may find. When they are competing they don't just simply want to win...they want to do things perfectly;  no fumbles, no mess ups.  Anything less than the best will make them highly critical of their performance.  These natives almost seem immune to criticism. However, one may be surprised to know that they take criticism seriously. In fact, criticism usually motivates them to push harder.  They tend to be very hard on themselves, and if they are in a team they tend to be highly critical of their team mates as well (even if they do not express this).  They always feel they know the best way to do everything.  While this can be frustrating to some, this quality would make them excellent coaches.  They are usually experts at what they do, no matter the sport.

Note: Natives with Mercury aspecting Mars or Mars in the 6th house may relate to this description.  Since Virgo is ruled by Mercury, Mercury's planetary aspects, Mercury's house placement, and Mercury's sign will influence this position.

Famous Quote from a Mars in Virgo Athlete: "I concentrate on preparing to swim my race and let the other swimmers think about me, not me about them".
